Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

Engineer Exodus has begun

If management does not pull their head from out of their @$$es they will lose a lot of good engineers. How are you (middle management) not communicating to your superiors that a retention payout is badly needed in light of employees having to deal with there being no company direction. It’s not difficult and not costly. What’s costly is high school graduates running type curves.

Engineering is not required for pioneer does, daily functions can be handled by admins, tech and field sups...lay off 95% of engineering.

LOL, you think midland basin needs engineering...my labradoodle can drill, pick tops and complete those wells.

I would say I could handle a difficult project but I don’t anymore care to try.

There is zero focus on retention, all of the “we care about people” went to those they didn’t want.

Is anyone aware of drillers being reprimanded for their cost overruns? No. Exactly why we will again repeat the past. Same people in charge. No consequence to doing well or doing poorly.

I’m pretty sure it was the engineers that messed up drilling 6000 foot laterals instead of 12000 lol. High schoolers don’t get to make that call

Things will improve to what end state??? I do believe that most employees want to do their best, rather than waste their lives everyday, but it’s currently the blind leading the blind...

So, where is everyone going? Every other company on the job boards looks just as bad.

I doubt we will crash and burn. I do believe there will be further reorganization to put people in places they can contribute. It’s a mess presently.

It is realy sobering to witness good people being thrown out and experience the dysfunctional aftermath we are into. Whatever shred of loyalty I had for the company is gone. I like my paycheck though. Finger is ready to press eject button. It is obvious this thing is about to crash and burn.

This was the best thread on the Pioneer Lay-off site. I did not like working in the factory - where the threatened managers wanted to stack hands rather than do what was right/in compliance/sustainable. I was glad to exit in 2016 and still laugh at how the attorney and HR thought they were intimidating me. Glad Pioneer has faded in my rear view mirror because this thread just proves things continued to get worse in cookie-cutter world

You are genius. You should be a manager and tell VPs employees are leaving; do something about it.

Money clearly isn't enough to make people stay. They want to do difficult projects again. Developing another section of pancake strata in the Permian doesn't satisfy any sort of craving to find hydrocarbons. Until companies realize that their staff don't want to work in a manufacturing plant they will lose people no matter how much they pay them.
