Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Is Sam's Club better than Walmart?

As an employer? I have a chance to switch, but I can't decide if I really want to. I've been reading their forum here, and they seem to be in the same if not worse shape than we are right now. Feels a little like I'd be jumping from the frying pan into the fire.

Is it smart to take such a risk now?

I've worked for Sam's Club for 12 years. 0 points out of 10, would not recommend. Not with the state it's in now, anyway. Ever since the block scheduling restructure has gone into effect nation wide, my club and a good deal of others have been in a state of chaos.

I’ve worked at both. Believe it or not, Walmart is more structured. I left the company but if I had to choose, it would be Sams. Closed or close early on major holidays, better pay and better clientele. However, working hours are more set at Walmart. Still no job security and unrealistic expectations.

Have you even taken a cursory glance at the Sam's Club layoff site lately? They are a complete cluster right now. Leave Wal-Mart for sure, but if you make the dubious decision to stay in retail, at least go to Costco or Target.

You loose your discount. Even if you qualify for lifetime discount.

I wouldn't do it, but thwen, I'm not a big risk taker. Even so, I think the writing has been on the wall for Sam's for some time. Yeah, I think you could find yourself out of work in a hurry making that move.
