Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Mattel's second quarter results to be announced on July 25

Anybody wants to guess how bad it will be? I'm going to assume we'll also get news on more layoffs on that day, as a way for leadership to mitigate the effects of what will undoubtedly be disappointing results.

Against all odds, we have actually managed to beat expectations for the last few quarters. Granted, expectations are very low. It remains to be seen whether there is a real (slow) turnaround underway or if Ynon's financial cronies have been cooking the books. That can't be sustained very long. Any time goofy-looking CFO Joe E starts regurgitating Sinclair's epic words "headwinds", "constant currency", "challenges", "disruptive", "streamlining" and "structural simplification", kiss your bu++s goodbye. BTW, why TF are Richard, Down, and Goodie still here? Ti+s on a bull.

That just shows the type of leadership/people they are. Clearly the problem and certainly not the solution. A company can only go as far as one can lead.

Mattel leadership does not have a good track record when it comes to addressing the elephant in the room. Ynot and RD held a global town hall a few days AFTER it was announced that the FP NYC office was being closed and the closer was not even acknowledged during the entire presentation. It was only after, during the Q&A that someone asked about it.

You think they’ll be done with the rolling layoffs by then? They should address the elephant in the room

I think they will sound good. If you set your number low enough eventually you should hit it. (Barbie.) This gives you credibility with the street. Credibility that you s---. But credibility. Stock will rise a couple bucks and then settle back into $11 ghetto. Get ready to sell if it passes $13 and you can squeeze a few pennies out.

There will no mention of layoffs. They didn’t mention it in the past updates and they never will.

Everything is fine, all our numbers are up. Barbie is up, Mega is doing fabulous, Hot Wheels is up, Toy Story is number one, Fisher Price is climbing, etc.

The only numbers that are down and will continually to fall is our stock and employment numbers.
