We are a company with a prestigious past that's still more than holding its own in a capricious market - so why are we being destroyed from the inside? Why have all these layoffs, why force the best people out? Who decided that future doesn't matter for UP?

Hate to break it to ya. Blackrock isn’t a majority stock holder.
The FRA needs more discreet inspections to catch the UP in its act of deceiving
Keep reporting to the FRA bad orders snuck by and hid past terminals that those trains are due for inspections.
Go get em!
Check out BlackRock investments... they have bought enough UP stock to call the shots.. and they are the ones behind all this 20/20 BS.... I’ve heard their plans are to run UP into the ground cash out and on to the next company...
It's just about money, they want more. That's why the FRA has stepped up their inspections, as a current employee at UP, wee need more FRA involvement, they run bad orders on every train, they hide them by moving trains around when the FRA is around. They car nothing about safety, courage to care, a joke.
The executives at UP can’t read so good, but they got fake degrees and like to play choo choo.
Just imagine that everyone is getting laid off. Start preparing for the worse and take care of yourselves, and your families. It ain't worth getting frustrated over this bs company. You are valuable, so go to a company that respects that. Staying with UP you are being used and abused.
I fail to find any evidence of a prestigious past when I look at railroad history. From the genocide of Native Americans, to the indentured labor of the Chinese, to the violent suppression of American organized labor, there is little (if anything) that could be considered prestigious about UP or railroads in general.
Nobody should be surprised that a company with a history like UP's would treat their workforce like yesterdays garbage. For those of you who remain, it will only get worse.
Its all about greed.....
If you have to ask why, you obviously have your head in the sand. Educate yourself on the business of corporate hedge funds, the only question you should be asking yourself is this a corporation I want to continue to work for.
Care is not a word used by the UP management, unless Don't is before it..
Because Union Pacific is now being controlled by hedge funds that don’t care about the railroads reputation or past. They never have to look any of these workers in the eyes, or even step foot on to up property. All they care about is squeezing every dollar they can out of it, and when they can’t squeeze any more, they will leave us hanging out to dry not caring if they company will survive or not.
