What's the idea behind the new logo?
a: lasers?
b: low earth orbit satellite constellation?
c: Nintendo Virtual Boy?
d: someone got a Marine to spit out a red crayon and handed him a ruler?

Speaking as someone who dealt with this in another career, this was not designed by a big marketing firm. This is some higher ups vision or his kids idea.
Easy to print on your RIF package.
The logo that has to be explained is a bad logo. It looks very busy & cumbersome - too many lines - current design trend is "more with less". Seems like the design process was driven by an executive who probably thinks he knows about graphic design more than a graphic design firm.
The same thing with the slogan - "Fast. Forward" - how can you do it without compromising quality, innovation and business ethics?
In our all hands meeting Monday they said it was based on the buckyball. With the triangles symbolizing change, everyone is interconnected to symbolize strength....
I believe it represents the ability to communicate globally or global integration.
I like it. It pays homage to the meatball, represents change, flexibility, and strength as a combined body, and would be easy to replicate in a 3-dimensional format for corporate headquarters or welcome signage.
So many negative nancys out there. It could have been WAY, WAY worse.
I thought of my kids toy which was globe shaped with plastic and was flexible
Knex?
#L3Disney, being that Harris is based in Florida, the insperation for the new logo comes from the spaceship earth that is at Epcot.
I agree with your comment. The logo has been poorly executed. It looks too busy - too many lines. The current design trend is minimalism or more this less. It looks like it has been approved by executives without any clue or expertise in brand design. It seems to be a temporal thing before It's acquired by Boeing.
I was disappointed when got to work this morning and saw the logo. Reminded me of a soccer ball done in wire frame. I wonder how much the graphic design firm got paid for that?
