Just read new ad for July 4th. Want mulch or charcoal? Sure. Want to learn that Lowe’s installs stuff? Nope. Not even one line about PSE installation program. As a PSE I need to wonder why I’m scheduled to work the floor. They say it’s to get leads, but face it: I’m just coverage for poor scheduling. I bet Marvin is “working “ from home on the 4th.

You are clueless buddy. When people walk into Lowe's they are already thinking of doing a project with them. It's the salesmen job to show then the features and benefits Lowe's offers. The first step is the easiest. When you are doing direct sales you knock on someone's door. They could be cleaning or watching TV or eating and are not thinking of what you are trying to sell them. You have only a few seconds for them to want to listen or tune you out. If you can't see the difference you obviously have never had a real sales job.
Oh my god. They advertise everything else. If they advertised the PSE program they’d have more money to hire installers. They could buy at better prices.
When I was a PSE I got written up for cold calling when I had time. You get no help in the roll anymore. Used to be we were told to make the business our own. No more. Now it’sh-- the highway if you disapprove of my way. Can not tell you how happy I am to be out.
Lol you just admitted you are not a good salesperson! Lol. Its not hard for a good salesperson to convince someone to buy from them. Cold calling is never easy but good sales people either make it work or find a job that provides leads. Lowes is not the only sales job where leads are provided.
@ZKCmWgg LOL at least you don't have to work a real sales job. Real I mean Getting your OWN leads. Cold calling and door knocking. You glorified sales people wait for them to come to you. problem is Lowe's too expensive and only get the uninformed because they are lazy and don't want to shop around. Look I worked in the store. It was a piece of cake. Now I am out on the street selling it's a world of difference. Direct sales is so much harder because you have to convince someone who might not be interested to buy from you..
Elitism is corporate. I promise no elitist works the hours a pse making 3k a week works. That pse is running 15 in-homes a week, and physically working 70 hour weeks. That’s not including the phone calls, texts, and emails that happen 24/7. Most importantly, that PSE is efficient, knows he doesn’t get paid if he messes up, and still quotes 70k jobs in 30 minutes. It doesn’t take the same sales ability build a 70k kitchen in 4 hours and a 70k window job in 30 minutes. I understand it takes 4 hours to make a kitchen, but it only takes 2-3 minutes to set up a lead so a PSE can go make a 70k sale. Seems to me like Lowe’s corporate should give better recognition to lead gerators.
So here we go with this elitist c-ap again. The kitchen designer in the store says "Can I help you?" and a $70,000 kitchen design with all its almost unlimited attributes miraculously appears. You are correct, the is absolutely no salesmanship involved there. Get it straight...The sales force in the stores are not there to service you!
If you would like to make 3grand a week, why dont you go get a job where you can make it? You do realize the PSE can only make anywhere near that kind of money if they sell. That does require some skill other than can I help you. It doesn't negate how important it is to get leads and the need for them. Teamwork. Most PSE's have to get leads to even get close to making their budgets. Again, do you even know what you are talking about?
To the last poster: hey skip, how about I get you no leads. That sounds pretty good to me. F your leads. Get them yourself. F off you elitist, entitled little punk. This program was a disaster from the beginning and has only gotten worse. Nowhere in your soliloquy did you mention the hard work provided by the rank and file in the stores. Only the poor downtrodden overworked PSE...I also noticed you did not challange the $3000 per week...we both know this number is pretty accurate for a busier store. Please spare me the violins you jagoff.
A few points:
- The reason they say they don't advertise is because they couldn't handle the business because we do not have enough installers.
-Yes! Ridiculous does not begin to describe this statement. Does that apply to the mulch and charcoal?
-
Lowe's is afraid of a silly lawsuit and that is why they do not solicit business by canvassing and so forth.
-
but you better have 30k this week and be working your no sales, run your appointments, be at the lead table, train the associates how to produce them because your salary! Ridiculous again!
-
You are probably correct that the end is coming. They cut 2 categories that were well over 100k in store and raised budget. RAISED BUDGET!

I would advise to look now before the severance packages are offered. Good luck to all that are in the grind!
As far as the statment by the other poster to not feed the bloated checks of PSE: you have no idea what has to be done, what scrutiny and pressure is placed on the position and when you figure the hours in that a good PSE actually works, its less than some make. 60 plus hours a week for the time since moved to salary. So I would advise, get leads and know what you are talking about before you type ignorance.
I was told Lowe’s does not advertise PSE because of the contractors they are trying to sell to. They want contractors to buy products from Lowe’s and not get pisses off because Lowe’s is taking business away from them. That’s what I have heard for years.
I agree totally, Paul Wyman only brings more of the same....Depot. We our now managed by fear...we are always one misstep away from losing our jobs. According to Mr Wyman we should be working non stop...6 days a week while he probably works 32-40 max. Typical
Who cares? Either bring back commission for all, or its time for Marv to pull plug on this program. Employees are getting p-ss-d feeding your $3000+ weekly paychecks and getting butkus in return.
You better get some leads too!! You have to make up the loss of HVAC and Generators and no adjustment to your target after culling those two items!! I don’t know why the company is so adverse to allowing PSEs to canvass and self market outside the store. I’m open to 100% commission but no restrictions on pipeline development. I think it would be more productive than sitting in the store. Ironically, that’s one thing HD encouraged that Lowe’s has shunned. Doesn’t matter in the long run, how much longer before the program is k--led anyway, by this time next year I doubt our program will exist.
