Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Ooops- guess getting rid of AG Wilmot was a mistake

Let me get this straight. 133 people are told in April 2018 that they will lose their jobs in January 2019. Meanwhile the company struggles to sell the mold ridden loaction. As expected, the building never sells, and jobs are still cut.

Now in June 2019, they want seasonal "work at home agents" that reside in that area, to apply and train in the unsold Wilmot facility. Additionally, as an at home agent, you can expect unplanned visits from a Supervisor. So, the leaders in Middleton will drive WELL over two hours to Supervise these associates.

Glad to learn the company is saving so much money after cutting my 18 year job. I'm sure they have their ducks in a row though and one can expect that this process will be seamless, their sysyems will be intact and support will be top notch...

Lol- best of luck AG!!

Wilmot kicked butt. The numbers don't lie. Unfortunately, the egos at corporate sharing the numbers do lie. They are more interested in self-preservation than doing what is best for the business. Wilmot's hiring process, training, and leadership in the contact center and warehouse were second to none. They always picked up the slack from Middleton and looks like that is still the plan.

Guessing this was always the back up plan. Wilmot always brought in more workers and frankly worked smarter and harder. It would take three peeps to replace what I brought to the table! They dangle their little greedy carrot which willl most likely bring back some with most making half of what they did before. As if it wasnt bad enough to put on a game face each and every day for the nine months, waiting for the impending doom...

Nah mate, not me- I'd flip burgers at Mickey D's before I put myself in that position again!

Anyone know if the Sproutling offices in downtown San Francisco are still open?

Mattel has a habit of leaving vacant offices and paying rents for nothing. I still have my key card and go hang out in the ny office from time to time. the security guy lets me up, even had a party there last weekend. no kidding. the dummies never deactivated the security system. old key cards still work!

As a former AG Wilmot DC leader, I suspected the sale of the building would be difficult - even when a buyer was lined up. It's too far from Chicago or Milwaukee, and not close quite enough to Pleasant Prairie and Amazon/Uline/Fox Conn.

However, I can't agree (from my knowledge/experience) that the building is mold-ridden - unless a lot changed between when I left and now.

With the lack of IT support that has always plagued Wilmot, I'm sure systems will be intact and support will be top notch!

Best of Luck!
