Are the terminations going to spread to other areas of the business or are they mainly focused on IT? I am 66 and was planning to stay till 70

Good luck with that. Unless you're closely genetically related to the top level execs, you're on the block too.
I have seen a few folks hold off on retiring specifically so they could be laid off. They got their retirement AND a severance and went out with giant smiles.
Before I was let go in Feb. I was not aware of any customer facing layoffs, however, a number of back office positions were eliminated through function consolidation/reorganization or in Finance further outsourcing of positions.
As the saying goes, hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I wish you luck.
