Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Fight back.

It's up to us workers to stop this madness. We have a choice either s--- into their lies or we fight back and show them who really is boss. Mechanical dept lay down on them. Transportation find every defect and shut those trains down. Slow this railroad to a halt. We have a choice. What will your choice be. Screw the unions they are doing nothing but watching. We must take a stand. If you wait till November for the contract then it's too late the time is now. They can threaten shop shut downs and more layoffs all they want but in the end without us there will be no union pacific. We are the heart and soul. So lets start fighting back. 2019 the year the workers took back the railroad. Phuk 2020 plan.

Wow! Those of you that are b--chin about what the UP is doing needs to just wait. Someone said in another post about what happens when it falls apart. Folks I'm not posting this to add comfort to anyone. Let's look at the facts here. How many big derailments has the UP had since implementing precision shareholder railroading? A LOT! What's the current train velocity at the UP? SLOWER! What's the current operating ratio at the UP? SAME! I could actually post a lot more, but I think the point is clear! The sh-- hasn't hit the fan yet, but they're winding up!

Well if you leave you got to pay the tuition reimbursement back and also it’s only $4500 a year not much reason to stay for. Just leave and skip the university of Phoenix degree

At 55 years old, with less than the 120 month retirement service, where do I go to make $30 an hour?

OR.. show up, do little to nothing and get paid. That sounds better. $$$

Or, show up and do what you are still being paid to do...YOUR JOB! People act like this is a prison they can't escape from. Use the tuition reimbursement, get some training and find other work that is fulfilling. Or stay and be miserable. There are things that you can control. The rich people will still be rich, even if you lay down on the job. They will work around the problems and the working man will get screwed even harder.

your best bet really is to find a new job. you can try and stick it to the man, but at the end of the day you'll still be working for uncle pete and it is going to continue to get worse. your choice, but i think your dreams of fixing the town and riding off into the sunset like john wayne are a little far fetched.

OP: you can't exercise any of the most decisive options (such as a general strike) until November 2019, because if you do, UP can (and will) sue the unions for violating the RLA, and they will ultimately prevail, due to the federal bench being stacked with pro-business/anti-labor judges over the past three years.

The easiest solution to your problem is to find a new employer, as many of us already have.

I tagged a switch OOS for being hard to throw and a manager came by and took it off, had another crew line the switch and depart. I called my union , the superintendent and the FRA 3 months ago about it, and they won’t do anything. Nobody cares anymore, so I just show up and do my time. The company has succumb to the pressures of wall street, and they will do whatever it takes to appease them. This will all be over by this time next year, and we can get back to what we’re used to. PSR is not a sustainable business model, just a short term cash grab. Hopefully we’ll have some customers left.

They have been super pushy, unsafe and very unappreciative lately so now i take my sweet time. Dont get me wrong i work, just at a very slow pace. If they dont make a train i truly dont care what so ever. i dont go out of my way to get the job done anymore. I care about UP like they care about me...they dont. I just do my thing and go home.
