Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

The kids are catching on!

Just this past week a 19 year employee in Nebraska who they loved gave his two week notice. A section manager and a claim manager (who was at an airport) conference called him/her and offered a RB3 position. He/her declined respectfully. They were heartbroken. I am so proud of him/her who took another job elsewhere in exchange for his health, family, and ability to do better.

Moral of the story. Take care of your internal customers so they can focus the customer. Time and values cannot be bought. When you are disloyal to some, don't expect loyalty from others.

I was with the company 23 years and consistently a high performer with mostly 3/3 ratings over the years. I was the only one in the company who knew how to do my job. They said we would be relocated to Bloomington or a Hub but a week later told us that anyone not already in one of those locations would be let go. So there is no loyalty to anyone. If they can let high performers go with no hesitation, it can happen to anyone. This is not the company I once was proud of. I've been gone for a year and while I took a position for less money, there is much to be happy with. There is life after State Farm!

They may think they forced me out the door at 57, but I laugh. They didn't know I had the money to go. Joke on them. The old divorced cult codgers who blew all their money can sit in their desk, waste time and stare at a computer. They are all I'll.

Did they tell him about the enhancements to Total Rewards package coming in 2020? He will beg to come back.

The truth will always prevail. Some still think they can hide their filthy laundry instead of putting it in the washing machine. Old finance saying: you can eliminate the middle man but you cannot eliminate his function. Just like the industrial revolution. Mgmts hide is gonna get kicked hard. It's just a matter of time. They think they can get 2.50 out of .50 of people. They can but it will only be short term. If they set it at 1.75 they will be able to do it long term. It has been proven that greed is NOT sustainable. Seen it many times in many industries. The middle man makes their system go. It's only a matter of time before the middle man gets upset and the rubber band breaks. It's called the theory of elasticity.

There are just as many recent hires who are completely worthless as there are dinosaurs. In every office and hub. Some couldn't spell cat if you spotted them the C and the T.

SF is not a career any more. Used to be. Not any more. Its merely a step, get some exp, move on for more $ - why stuck around when pay, benefits and job security is gone.

If I was 20 today, I would go work for gov - no security anywhere else...

Jobs used to be career paths, now they kick you in the a-- the first time they need a few dollars to improve profits and therefore drive exec bonuses up....

Crony capitalism, latin American style - makes me sick - this country was da bomb - look now, cutting wages and o---id crisis all around. Average 60 yo has 40k in the 401k...

The left is p-ss-d, the right is p-ss-d, and the c level keeps skimming all $$$$ - and all preach against any protection of the worker - and we accept it in silence...

We are sheep...

I think seeing all the late 40's and 50 plus's, that were long-term employees, shown the door regardless of performance has been an eye opener for everyone. It also has had the effect of devaluing what use to be SF's best benefit, the pension.

Does anyone want to give a company their youthful years that has shown they will kick you to curb once you get older.

He/she has talent and can go elsewhere. Unlike the 20 year dinosaurs who drain this company of paycheck after paycheck while being completely worthless. Fire all 20 plus year employees
