Um, yeah.

13 or 14 cars?
Did she buy a new car every other year?
If she bought Honda and Toyota instead of "American" cars, she would have bought 3 or 4 in that same time frame.
Grew up with foreign cars. My wife, born and raised in the Detroit area, she bought only American although no one in her family worked for an automaker. We purchased a new "American-made" car every two to three years even before I was GM. Only 3 of the 13 or 14 cars my wife has ever owned were non-GM. We insisted our children buy GM; one is on his second new GM car; the other is on her 1st. I finally convinced my mother to buy GM last November. And now? We will NEVER buy another GM. Nor will our children or other family members.
The laid off will find new employment, and some will earn more than while at GM. But, a scorned employee will not forget, will not endorse, nor will they ever toss any of their hard earned cash towards GM. Alienated customers never return, and never endorse.
Ask yourself why GM has pulled out of so many unprofitable markets. It's not that these markets are unprofitable. It's that these markets are unprofitable to GM.
GMs reputation, is k--ling GM.
What about the salaried workers? She’s not so concerned with keeping them around. Unless they’re young, or female, or minority. Then they get rehired after severance has run out. LOL. Comedy show at GM.
Car parts from Mexico. Rare earths from China. How should companies manage supply-chain risk in a global environment that is, let’s say, unsettled?
Get woke, go broke. MB has embraced the concept at light speed.
I am wondering if GM was chosen to be the sacrificial lamb of the automotive world, just like lehman brothers were back in 2008. All their moves make little sense, almost as if they're trying not to exist for much longer.

Agreed, the fact that this is continuing for so long is absurd! You will see more and more people moving away from GM at an even faster rate, everyone knows that GM is God awful and word is clearly traveling fast NOT to support this sickening company by purshasing their products, you can thank Barra and that useless CFO she promoted. Massive job loss for no reason means ain't buying trucks, SUVs or what's left of the lame cars they offer. It's like we are moving back to the gilded age of society. Mary is a pro at alienation of the employees and customer.
Mary has lost it. She's completely out of touch with reality at this point. The consumer base has lost faith in the company, and they're showing that by the cars & trucks they buy or not.
I think the best thing that could happen to GM right now would be a takeover by another company. There's less and less at GM that's worth saving as every day goes by. Barra has no product experience at all, and is apparently calling the shots on future product that has no substantial demand. Reuss has a career in product with nothing to show for it, except for an impressive empire of yes-men that have been promoted well beyond their level of incompetence.
The only positive alternative to a takeover or bankruptcy would be a massive house-cleaning, which should have happened long before the last bankruptcy. I don't see that happening.
GM board members are carefully chosen by B, and they all serve B. Don’t expect them oust B.
Until there's nothing left.
I would guess the next CEO will hold multiple minority diversities with rainbow flags plastered all over.
Progressive means progress, one way or another.
Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, yeah not happening.
Once burned by this company, no one ever comes back for seconds. Alienating customers for life.
People don't buy GM products because of how the company acts. So now they ask for support in a time of need? Whether it's the result of a layoff, a bad product, a bad customer service experience, or other, at some point GM will lose that potential customer for life. I think all the markets GM has pulled out of prove this. Even at home, GM is losing ground. Your home market should be nearly a free pass.
Now that China is looked at as the golden goose, how long do you think before that goose gets cooked? Either through over saturation, or enough time, like every other market in the world, will eventually turn away from GM again. There's too much baggage following GMs name to keep it viable.
Toyota Camry is built in Kentucky by Americans who support their communities.
Silverados are built in Mexico by Mexican workers who support their communities.

My little girl and I could be in the same position of I don't find work soon, this CEO and CFO should be removed. They have ruined allot of families lives. I was contract for a very long time, this is beyond Rediculous and sad is an absolute understatement.
After 38 years of GM loyalty I will now consider other brands based on reliability, price, and where they are manufactured.
BUY AMERICAN MADE PRODUCT!!!
Wow how dishonest on her part. There were both salary and hourly job losses, but she only references hourly with we want...
Buying Toyota sedans for family next.
Doesn't she understand, we wanted our cars built in US by American citizens who support their communities?
My little girl in school isn't getting tax dollars from China to provide for her school. Now that dad is unemployed and mom is applying for food stamps it's really scarey for us.
Why isn't she held accountable for balanced trade, and US jobs??
this article really is sad, you changed people's lives FOREVER, hourly and salary and you really feel people should be loyal to GM? There are people having to move their families to different states or lost their homes because they can't pay their bills...….
Wow, I think she’s completely lost her mind. She’s talking about the hourly workers following GM to other plants for new jobs, but she doesn’t say anything about the salary people who were let go for no good reason. Other than they were too old........
Mary is the worst leader since Roger Smith.
Which part of the article do you think is not factual? Did you even read the article, or are you just trashing the source?
I would not believe any article coming out of that factually dubious website breitbart.
