Johnny Jim and Tom were all employed by SF and were in the mentoring program. Johnny mentored Jim and Jim mentored Tom. Jim was a good mentee to Tom and believed everything he said with the exception of "Don't drink their Kool Aid and they really don't care about you." Johnny and Jim became good friends. Johnny was two years away from retirement when State Farm closed his office after asking him to leave his family to move to a hub location. Johnny is left with SF failed promises. Jim was the most loyal person and believed SF. Jim left his family, packed up all that he had and moved to another location only to retire early and tell them to STUFF IT after seeing empty promises.
Now Tom still stays in touch with Jim. Tom is the youngest of the group and had 19 years with the company. He was the employee the lived, ate, and slept SF as a proximity worker. His reviews were always exceptional. Tom called Jim one day and said: "I can't take this no more. My chest is about to pop out and I don't spend quality time with my family! I am sorry Tom but I am going to leave SF!" When Tom gave his notice, he got a call from his SM and CM who offered to give him a RB3. He respectfully declined saying his family is more important than SF.
The moral of the story is quite clear. The mentoring program worked as intended. AND what really makes me happy is the youth in our country is standing up people who do not keep their promises and live by what they preach.
