Are xerox techs going to be doing same work as xbs techs? Such as instead of going home and waiting for a call to come in go out and find calls to do or are xbs techs going to be in same service department as xerox techs?

Makes no sense to operate two different two different programs. Johnny and Bill will consolidate them to operate as one. If not now, very soon.
Maybe ask others if they need help, ask the warehouse if they need help, sitting at home and doing nothing is stealing $ from the company, clearly if you don't have enough work to do perhaps that means ovetstaffed!
How is it being lazy when you’ve fixed your machines properly so customers aren’t calling for service? Can only make up so many calls to go to.
I’m an XBS tech and I can say I’m busy. 6-9 calls a day. Lots of area to cover
In my area management often requires we work "mandatory OT". This mandatory OT is often Saturday after Thanksgiving and Saturday after New Years. "Mandatory OT" pays straight pay.
There has been many weeks where I worked "flex time" 10h days Monday Tues only for OT to be approved Weds and I cannot claim those hours on my paycheck (because OT wasn't approved then) or claim flex because of call load. I learned after a couple of these to stop working flex.
To answer the OP question they want us to do retrofits. In my area retrofits are done so I go home and look at other work group's call queue to remote solve. Of course we aren't given any credit for remote solves anymore. I guess it makes me look lazy fixing customer's problems over the phone instead of driving around looking to fix non broken machines.
and people wonder why Xerox is going down the c-apper
can you say "lazy"
That’s right. F* ‘em!
Really depends on manager. We are told to go find retrofits and clean part locker/vehicle
That said I do go home if I have no calls and no work to do. I know they want 5 visits but f--- em. I'm not wasting gas to appear to be busy. The worst is having no calls till 4pm then being notified a call 3h away. I stay at home because I don't make OT on the drive home
