Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Worst place to work in the country?

From reading a lot of posts here and glassdoor reviews it seems like State Farm might be one of the worst workplaces in the country.

I'm thinking of nominating it for this years worst places to work news article.

What do you guys think?

Agents used to be able to enroll staff in SF Group insurance. That was shut off around 8-10 years ago. SF seemed to get awfully worried that agents would be legally deemed “ employees”. So now they control every single thing agents and team members do, but include constant legal disclaimers stating that is not the case.

Worked at 2 different State Farm Offices this past summer and they both were a nightmare. It is like a cult they do not pay commissions, treat employees like cr-p and have absolutely no benefits.

Yeah it’s gotten pretty damn miserable! They just keep piling it on us. Oh but then we get a thankful email that makes all the difference right?

I think:

  1. This is not a great place to work
  2. A very quick perusal of any competitor on the layoff.com indicates that it’s the same everywhere. So what are you gonna do?

You all can't blame a company for your misery. Be a grown a-s adult and find another job if you can't manage your work/life balance. It's insurance - if you can't manage the stressors, go work at Walmart.

It is true. You wanna work your a-s off then get demoted right before retirement or better yet... just plain fired. The worst place to be if you would like to have a life. Oh, are you stressed? Well just start working here and watch your sanity slowly slip away. Do you want to feel that you are incapable of buttoning your shirt because when they are done with you, you will be told some way everyday that you're an id--t. Love to be micromanaged bye overworked, underpaid people that hate their job just as much as you do but realize any hope of getting out of that horrid position is null and void. Oh and last but not least.... Need to go to the Dr.? Sorry, no time for that! Need to have surgery? Sorry, no time for that! Need the holidays and weekends back so you can feel like a normal human being? Sorry, no time for that! The worst place! Take it off your list! You're welcome!

Back-in-the-day when I started, when someone asked you where you worked and you replied State Farm, they said Wow, you're lucky! Now the reply is "oh, I'm sorry."

One additional day PTO for every five years here maxing out at 20 years. 4 additional days total. Larger company match with the 401k. Positive changes are coming.

So they’re giving back the vacation time they just took from everyone? I have trouble believing this bc Tipsord has only removed benefits while telling everyone how much better it will be for the employee. A true b---s---er.

State Farm does s---. They stopped treating employees like adults a long time ago. But worst place to work? I doubt that.

They are increasing our 401k match, giving us extra PTO days and larger % raises. Good time to be an employee

Do it. They have spent the past several years earning that nomination. They do not care about employees at all anymore. No work/life balance of any kind. The executives seem to want China's 996 work culture (where workers work from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., six days a week), and would love to force that on us if they could. They are already pushing the limits of what is accepted and legal when it comes to U.S. employment customs and laws. They're running their claims operation like a Chinese factory.

Full of dinosaurs who collect a check and do nothing. Old ticks s---ing the blood out of this company. Fire the entitled geezers. Those with 20 plus years. Let the young run this place. We will get results.

I left State Farm in the late 90's and never looked back. All of my time was in Bloomington in IT. Corporate and Corporate South. I liked the company overall but it seemed like a good number of the rank and file employees, mostly locals, were petty and difficult to work with. Definitely glad I left when I did.

They s---ed. In turn they s---ed the health and youth from me. Now after I finally left, unfortunately I have numerous Chronic and Permanent Conditions which in large part State Farm contributed to.

May the bosses rot in .... you know the rest.
