I just wanted to remind people to submit their experiences at this said company to sites like Indeed and Glassdoor. It’s good to let people know what they are getting themselves into.

They get the tax break and then lay the vet off a few years later. As for military people being gullible, you don’t know sh--. And quit b--ching about invading Iraq. It will be decades before the full story comes out on what that was trying to, and in many ways did, accomplish. Not all is as it seems to the average person out there, so take your Portland hipster Bush bashing somewhere else. This is not the board for that.
Keep some stupid old head from
getting his stUPid kid from getting
a temporary job at UP and being
abused. This place isn't worth it.

Sounds like some soldier got this dude’s sister pregnant and then beat his a-- lol.
Regarding the military hiring,
UP goes out of their way to portray themselves as "military friendly" and actively targets veterans for recruiting. It isn't clear why they perpetuate this, because UP is definitely not "military friendly" in any way, shape, or form, except for when it comes to obtaining lucrative DoD contracts.
UP clearly doesn't understand the military at all. Even while in theatre, there are designated off days and set working hours, complete with chow plans and rest plans. In garrison, the military is like any other 9-5 job. UP likes to think it operates like the military, and markets itself as such. It doesn't and it shouldn't.
Veterans (when I was there) were more likely to challenge their management, and knew how to work within hierarchical structures, so the people saying UP goes for veterans because they "do what they are told" don't know what they're talking about. UP goes for veterans because they don't understand veterans, or the military, or really anything else that I can think of, save for how to use a tax refund to fluff executive compensation packages that are tied directly to company stock.
As for what the OP said, I agree. Get on Glassdoor and tell your story so that people know what they're getting if they decide to apply to work there.
Military maybe the most gullible people on the planet. UP loves to pick from a pool of lemmings that are told to go off someone because that is your enemy. Just like when Bush told the gullible kool aid drinkers that we must attack Iraq because our freedom was at stake.
100% easy marks for manipulators in leadership positions like UP or government.
The ONLY reason UP hires military is because of the huge tax breaks they get. They act like they give a damn about that, but all they care about is their share holders. Most companies don't care about their employees much, but this is a new level.
UP likes military, they do what there told.
Don't let a young Military veteran unknowing get hired on and get abused
by the id--ts. UP is worse than the
Military.
People already are. Lance has a lower approval rating on Glassdoor than the guy trying to sell you an extended warranty on your car.
