I work at Sam's Club. As some of you may be aware we are going to block scheduling. I heard this morning that Walmart is doing away with block scheduling. Is this true or just a another rumor?

If someone on the same block of hours want to swap days off can they at Sam's club
Block scheduling is a set time you will work depending on the area and you will have set days off. Senority got first pick on days off. Weekends are history most will work everyone. Nightcrews either has been or will be going to days on 2 different shifts. 4am-12:30 pm or 3 pm -11:30 pm and again senority got first pick on which shift they went to. At Sams every department will fall into 1 of 4 areas. If you work n the floor and you are full time you will either work 4-12:30 or 3-11:30 along with the nightcrew that got moved into those shifts. Parttime will work middle shifts. Made no sense moving nightcrew to the afternoon shift. Now they have go tie up 3 people to go get merchandise out of the steel to stock when they get to work.
Core is not block. Block comes later with changes to DM to TL , etc
We are going to Core Hours. A set amount of hours and schedule for a quarter. You may only receive 27 core hours if you are FT w/ limited availability. However, they may "expand" your hours. Ie., core of 1-5, you may get 1-7 or 1-9, or 10-5, as long as that "core" is there.
Core is not necessarily all of of you hours, but what are "guaranteed".
We need people to work evenings and weekends. Especially Sundays. If you are not available these times, fine but you may not get as many hours.
Set schedules ..same days off and same hours each day..
