I've been thinking about this, especially with more layoffs pretty much a guarantee after Noble's latest results, and I can't figure out how it's decided who is put on the list to be laid off.
Most of the time we lose some of our best people, those with most experience and knowledge. Why would any manager get rid of his/her best?
Is somebody else making these decisions? Somebody who only looks at numbers and nothing else?
The highest paid at each grade level go first. It's all about saving a few $
Some managers really know their jobs and the jobs of the people reporting to them. They have the ability to fill any gaps when their employees are sick or on vacation. This is far and few between because the manager above the “working” manager gets worried and finds ways to run that person off.

I left Noble some time ago. It’s interesting to see nothing’s changed, just farther along on the curve.
The company is so management heavy - feels like more managers then worker bees. To make management at Noble, you need to have excellent a k***g skills (no technical or other relevant skills required)
gos, while I agree that it can be absurd having super young managers, it's also absurd to get all bent out of shape about it. Just because you didn't end up on the management track shouldn't be cause enough to hate on some young favorite who is just trying to make money for their family.
Layoffs at Noble really depend largely on how well you kiss a** and s----up to your 30 year old manager. Senior people don’t s----up to people who have NO idea what they are doing. If you’ve been doing a solid job of s---ing up you’re probably okay.
1 in 50 will be management, if the ratio is that high.
