Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

My Last Day

Today was my last day at Xerox (XIM) after 17 years. It's sad to see such a great company be decimated the way Xerox has over the last few years. Instead of trying to look to the future for growth the C-suite decided that it would be easier to just layoff employees and bump the stock price to inflate their bonuses. When senior management fails, the company fails and that's what happened at Xerox. It was nothing more than a pot of gold to be raided by the C-Suite. I start my new job tomorrow with a %6 raise and better benefits. I wish everyone still left at Xerox the best and I hope you find a smooth landing.

since the IT jobs are going off shore, you would qualify for extra benefits under the Trade Act. Be sure you file a petition at your local unemployment office. I was in finance and am eligible due to the finance jobs that went to Philippines and Guatemala.

“I am also concerned that those remaining will have IT support only through a website or email. Most of it is going offshore.”

My support has been slow and unhelpful for years. What’s really different?

Anyone taking over our processes will quickly realize people are making due with outdated technology and it's the people who make customer commitments regardless of system limitations. All these work arounds aren't documented and no one will truly understand why it's done the way it is until they do it and it doesn't work. Best of luck to those shipped in to document the processes to hand off to another organization. Xerox hasn't spent money in years on technology.

I probably know both of you. I left XIM Nov. 30th on my own. Much better off now. Good luck.

As most of XIM is being outsourced to WiPro, I am also concerned that those remaining will have IT support only through a website or email. Most of it is going offshore. YIKES!!
