I see that some people are giving advice to the Xerox workers to leave the company ASAP and try to seek their fortunes elsewhere. I believe we can all agree that Xerox has hit rock bottom, but where can we go after we jump the sinking ship? I;m especially talking about people that can’t change the business, given their specialized skills and knowledge. Very company in the business is more or less in a bad position. Afraid to say that jumping ship at this point only means drowning in the sea.

The Rochester job market for tech is a disaster despite the cheerleading you read in the D&C. I moved, and the grass is outrageously greener elsewhere. If I had to move back I would look for remote work. Good luck.
Good question - where are you located. I'm in Rochester, I've been looking. I can't find anything that matches my skill set. And all my contacts tell me the companies they are working for, they wouldn't recommend because they aren't doing well either.
Good to hear -2hkw. Can I ask if this was in Rochester/Upstate NY?
I guess it depends where you live and what you do. I felt that I had no real skills outside of Xerox but I had someone look at my resume and it turns out that I had a lot of skills and the personality that could translate well into other positions. I didn't get a raise but I got a job that paid about the same at a company that actually gives cost of living raises and I have a normal health plan that costs thousands less and have a far more significant company match that actually makes my compensation package greater than what I had. Plus I have less stress and am not dealing with chronic quarterly headcount cuts. I wouldn't say jump before you have something else but don't for one second think that every company is as screwed up as we are.
There may not be other viable tech jobs available in Rochester so their career may very well be over, -1kbp
Nobody should be that scared to lower themselves to thinking that there is no other opportunities out there in the industry. I have to believe the above was written by one of the buffoons that now realize they screwed up royally and are trying to scare everyone into staying.
Fact, as it has been proven repeatedly that Xerox Norwalk Management focus is limited to making Carl Icahn whole no matter what the outcome is to Xerox and it’s employees. He has personally picked this cadre of buffoons and sadly after destroying Xerox he will move them to his next target. They are not here to save Xerox, their only direction is to get the stock price to $40 share so they can all take their money and run.
If Xerox disappeared from the world, companies would move on in a hot minute. It's not like Xerox hasn't been thrashed in the space for years. We don't even dogfood our own solutions internally.
If you fail to adapt then I guess it’s ok to fade away with xerox... no disrespect.
