Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

If they truly want better customer interactions and sales then they need to hire and keep good people

I’m not cheering for bad things to happen to Lowe’s but if they truly want better customer interactions and sales then they need to hire and keep good people. We were once one of the most popular employers because we paid our associate well and treated them fairly. Now our focus seems to be on getting our stock price up. The people at the top need to pay better. They’d be able to get people interested in working for them again. Of course, we could just keep on doing what we’ve been doing for the last few years and pay people nothing and knuckle them under when they don’t perform above expectations. I wonder if the id--ts on the Lowe Down realize that the reason that their stupid map has so much red on it is because of this. I enjoy the befuddled look on their faces every week when they pop it up for ten seconds to show just how poorly their plans are working.

Remember a few months back when the sales manager meeting talked about how Lowes doesn't think they need people who have experience in sales or with their products. They think all customers research everything online and just drop by to pick up what they wanted or they order online. They think the stores should just be distribution centers so that is why they are test marketing a c-appy scheduling system that they tweak to discriminate against workers that make more or have been with the company longer or are older. They tweak it to try to give scheduling perks to the young ones they want to keep. It is so obvious and I hope someone sues. They are trying to force people out using the scheduling system because they do not want anyone other than part time CSA's who know nothing. A lot of them just do not show up for work because Lowes management s---s and they do not want to put up with all the bull. Lowes management has no clue about how much customer facing is done explaining things and helping people make educated decisions. Lowes has no clue about how to treat employees. Lowes management does not care about anything other than trying to fake the books to ensure upper management gets their big bonus checks.

Latest smooth move by management here, am being transferred to a department where I have little to no knowledge because our department is supposedly fully staffed. As of Friday, they won't have me or a department supervisor (they gave notice 2 weeks ago). That'll leave one FT and one PT who each call off once or twice a month, a 2nd PT who calls off at least once a week and one PT who has not yet called off in his 2 months with the store.

store 1192 over the last few months has lost all its good people. del manager, hardware manager, now ISLG manager. Ronald from front end head cashier. Nashari, our pick up girl at the desk Arianna, overnight manager. Pro specialist. The list is on and on .. everyone leaving because lowes is a terrible p[lace to work now. Its impossible to serve customers, make sales, or make sense of anything.

even those still there are looking to leave. and its nationwide. i was talking to friends in vegas, texas, north carolina, etc. same reports in everywhere. I went to 5 stores near my market and Lloyd, Kingston, Poughkeepsie NY, Chester, and Middletown were all same. I talked with associates and every one, in every store said "its terrible there and do not work there".

Pretty grim outlook for lowes.
