Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

IT layoffs

I think we can learn a lot from yesterday (5/9/19) . Many IT employees were given their 60 day notice. How many? I am not sure. More info on this would be helpful. How many IT employees do we have in Hagerstown and how many of them were given their 60 day notice. Their last workday is June 28th. They are not replacing the OM's. They are not replacing the Site President.

He is still classified as an interim president. A large amount of our IT was just given their 60 day notice. If we were moving over to bldg 1 they would need the IT employees to make that move. It is only my opinion, given the IT employees last day being June 28th, that Hagerstown site is closing and we will all be given our 60 day notice and sent home before June 28th.

Again - this is only my opinion. I believe when we are given our 60 day notice, we will be sent home the same day. I believe this because of the sensitive nature of our jobs. They will not tell us what is going on due to our access of mass amounts of private information until the day they send us home.

If anyone has any information of how many IT employees we have and how many were given their notice, that would tell us a lot. If it is all the IT, then that means a definite closure. If it was most of IT, I think that would also mean a definite closure while keeping some IT to dismantle all electronics.

More than 500 people laid off by Citi in January 2019. Now another 450 people in IT with their last day on 6/28. Heard another layoff in Oct/Nov 2019. Looks like they are targeting folks 50+ years of age from the U S locations. One that I know has 33 years with Citi. I have 13 years and this is my second JD (layoff with them). No matter your tenure or review it can happen to anyone. Announcement made by CEO that Citi madrpe $4B in the first quarter of 2019. Also, their goal is to ship all development to India. That don’t care about their employees: they hired ‘Tech Heads’ in each group for Digital work to include IT Digital Cards, Retail Bank and CRS. Salaries extremely high. I can tell you this, I would NEVER recommend to a friend or stranger to apply there. Every year they have 2-3 layoffs. Good riddance to Corporate America meaning Citi and I hope with all of the expertise of folks that they have laid off, maybe Citi will start with negative profit. They even quit giving measly bonuses of $1k plus a year. No more working from home and they monitor you by running a report to Che k if you logged in from the office or an outside IP address. The last 5 years my team is spread all over and not in one libation plus offshore on the team and they are not reachable after 10:30 AM. Maybe Citi should just move offshore since that is where they are heading.

I have often thought that too. They wont give us too much notice because it gives angry employees a chance to lash out or people will start using all their sick and vacation time and just not show up to work. They need us to act like its not closing up until the day it does to prevent any revenge schemes. or just bad mouthing citi to clients on the phone. I dont know how many are in IT but I heard 22 are going. That sounds like a team to me. Just rumors though not sure on it
