Although I doubt that I will survive at UP to the year end, and frankly working here has become more of a burden to me, I really want to see the light at the end of the tunnel, otherwise I think I’m not gonna be able to pull through this period. So is all done by 2020, or will they come up with some new “brilliant” restructure?

No. If g55 is achieved your wall street overlords will not be satisfied. G45. G35. G25 until every last penny extracted from the operation is put back into the shareholders pocket and no new ties and ballast need to be purchased.
G55 has always been about cuts. This flashy buzzword was never about growth. It was just a distraction to the activist investor takeover.
If you think your manager in the corner office cares about you, youre wrong. Youre as expendible as bk napkins.
No. The support systems once in place other employees across departments never coming back. You will have less rail operational, thousands fewer engines and cars and you will be forced to compete for market share against rail companies that did not downsize in the same ways. Your market share will decrease in size because others can do premium accounts UP imagines they going to do exclusively, just as well. 2020 places UP in a position that requires downsizing further because of market forced demands. That really was not the case when G55 started, the company was making historical record-setting revenues and gains. The market wasn't demanding downsizing, in the same way, it was a choice to go there. If I am wrong and G55 proves great success all around, why stop? G45 would be even better by 2025, right? And that is where they will go.
Just do your job,be safe, and mainly trust what we say, no new furloughs.
I think you know the answer, follow your gut son. Just the fact that your having to think about this should tell you. Look for employment elswhere, cover your own tail son.
You’re as safe as walking on the streets at night in Detroit.
