That was a good offer. Why in the world they went Chevron for $65? Dont know... Yet, as an employee, I'd rather see us join CVX - I think they are better organized and the synergies will be better. I am pretty sure OXY would also do more layoffs but I may wrong here, let's see how Chevron handles the whole mess.

Oxy person here. Not looked at this close enough to see if it would have been good for Oxy. I heard rumors that we were under a hiring freeze and I guess this was why. With Chevron winning out I wonder if that is still the case. As for layoffs, no idea but Oxy did make it through the last downturn without laying off any employees. Been a good company so far.
