I currently make $15.75 as an SFL and I work in New York, we just got a new SFL who got hired here and they are making $16 an hour how did this happen? They definitely aren't as qualified because the person who got hired is a college student with no background in working any job but they are making more than me. All the information I know about them is stuff they told me and they were also surprised they got hired. What will happen when raises are given at the end of the year because this new SFL will always be making more than me

Total b---s--- and it’s been that way. Stomach turning, how can they
Managers can just take new hires straight to the maximum pay now right off the street with no questions asked, 8 years ago you couldn't do that.
Maybe this poster sux at work....
You know the job and what to expect. The new hire was probably painted a nice picture with rainbows and unicorns during their interview. CYA and let them fail. They will not make it to rheir first review.
This is why SM’s always preach “ don’t talk about money “. This isn’t a new thing at all it’s been happening for at least 10 years. All I can tell you is be prepared for a horrified look from your SM followed by some stuttering then anger... you won’t get anywhere with a SM talking about $ my advice to you is to stop talking with the new SFL about pay and either get over it or find a new career that cares about what you bring to the table. I have recently moved on and had quite a few interviews only to realize that I was shafted by Walgreens. Every single interview I had paid a ton more an hour than I made at Walgreens in 10+ years as an SFL.
Sounds like you better ask the manager and if you don't like the answer take your experience someplace else.
Walgreens claimed the Trump tax cuts would go to their people. Then they gave that only to the new hires, thus punishing “their people” with unfair wages and discord. Raising the wages of unqualified while maintaining wages of experienced skill is communism on a low scale How backward that capitalism has the power to bite itself in the butt.
