I’m going to clean out all the pictures of good friends I’ve made at PBC, take down all the awards for the late nights of work (back when it was PBG mostly) and the only thing on my desk as I leave for good, will be a solitary can of coke...

Worked at a Frito plant for 10 yrs. We had a plant manager that got mad at all the managers because he thought our desks were too cluttered. He sent a note out to all of us that stated our desks should be cleaned, organized and looking more profession for an upcoming Sr VP visit. The Sr VP used to be the plant manager for this plant and was a really good guy. So all us managers decided to get even with our current plant manager. We cleared every single thing off our desks - not a pencil, stapler, phone, nothing, EXCEPT the letter that said our desks should be organized. Needless to say, the SR VP got a huge kick out of it, current plant manager - not so much.
I pretty much did nothing for my last 5 years there and watched the guy with all the prestigious leadership awards across from me get walked out
When I was given the package in Feb. left all the awards behind (but kept the records of them so I can include them on my resume). As I told the HR associate watching me remove my personal items from my desk the awards and recognitions I received over the years like the company no longer had value to me.
To show you the disconnect, is that the associate was surprised by my statement that after telling me that my services were no longer required all these worthless tokens awarded back in the day when I actually had pride in being an employee should still mean something to me on my last day
