Thread regarding General Electric Co. layoffs

Severance related question

If I start a new job immediately after being laid off, does that in any way affect my severance?

I know they can't expect us not to look for work after we are shown the door, that would make no sense, but I wouldn't be surprised if there was some small print somewhere that says it has to be a week or a month or whatever before starting a new job.

Is there such a clause?

If you're in Schenectady and think you're just going to find another job, you better get one right now. The T Rates that we already laid off pretty much took all of them!! There's nothing much left in the area. Guess you'll be moving!!!

Only your state-provided unemployment payments would be affected.
