Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

What happens after outsourcing?

Are they going to outsource more if the deal wit HCL proves to be beneficial to the Xerox leadership? Are we going to see another round of cuts or are they going to leave that to “third parties” if and when they sell off some pieces of the company? In any case I just can’t see thing staying the way they are now.

Its all about the money. Out sourcing and downsizing is what pays the bills. It use to be that a manager could command a higher salary by managing more people. "I manage 1000 employees and you mange 500, I should get paid more" [Empire building]. TODAY its all about how much profit you make per employee. MAXIMIZE profit by working and engaging a smaller group of core employees. Cuts and downsizing are the new way of life, period. If you think anything but that, you are kidding yourself.

HCL will get all jobs except sales and technicians is my guess, the problem i foresee is that HCL will not be able to cater to the customers needs like a local core can and that will result in less and less customers as the competitors will use this as a selling point. Speaking from what i experience at my core, our biggest customers can be obnoxiously needy and demanding and they want and are promised above and beyond what they should be, i don't see sales changing their ways but the customer will when they find out they need to follow the HCL ways!!
