Lately very few news are getting around regarding the future cuts and such decisions. Constantly being questioned to justify our existence and petty spends on legitimate value adding projects. Keep asking same questions differently and preparing presentations of same data with fancier colors or symbols. Can someone higher up elaborate the purpose of all this ? Is this oil company or spotfire making factory?

sorry kids, upper management's new talisman against their own redundancy is embracing the shiny new thing in the room (even though they'll never actually understand anything about it): data analytics. and in CP, the prevalent face of data analytics is Spotfire. some folks overheard in a phone conference once upon a time that Spotfire was this magic thing that solves all problems. they could care less what it is or what it does, they certainly don't understand anything about it...but, they've only got to sell their ignorant enthusiasm upward to their supervision...who will amplify and spread that ignorant enthusiasm ever upward...and viola...the cult of Spotfire is born. don't get me wrong, it's a great tool that has it's place...the problem is that most of the people touting it don't have the slightest idea what it is or what it does...let alone how it does it. but they can put that Magic Moniker® in a powerpoint presentation regarding whatever the topic at hand, and boom they're golden in 1 or 2 land...
