Should young professionals try to pursue a job at Anadarko out of college? Denver or Woodlands locations

They should not try to get a job with any oil company. They should flee to higher ground.
A few of the things I miss most about my tenure with Anadarko was the cronyism, nepotism, s-xual harassment, and overall arrogance & incompetence of management and executive leadership. An accurate slogan for APC would be "We try to try....sometimes."
Avoid the accounting world. No matter how talented a new hire is, there is an “old” presence that doesn’t recognize talent. Rather recognizes those who drink the cool-aid or who fit a demographic. A great majority of the previous college grads have moved on as they are a threat to the current managers. Do anything else, but avoid the darko!
DJ basin is screwed by the new laws (which is our fault for killing people and operating like sh-- and totally reckless for so long).
Without DJ, we are worst in basin in every other division. Mozambique was going to siphon all our DJ profits into some BS moonshot. We should sell everything and just return cash flow from existing operations by paying down debt and dividend.
Wouldn’t hurt to fire everyone and start over. The people who are here are dumb, fat, and happy— not useful engineers.
Our hopes of getting bought out are gone. No one wants our debt, risk in Colorado, Mozambique capital requirements, or huge liabilities. None of the brainpower is worth a sh--.
5-10 years ago, I might have said yes. Now I would advise you to steer clear. It's a sinking ship and you definitely don't want to go down with it.
I've only been here a year, but within the first month I could tell almost all of my coworkers finished in the bottom quarter of their class.
Yea go look at the startups, PE shops, and venture backed upstream companies. Almost none of them have Anadarko employees. That’s because no one tries to poach from Anadarko. Almost all of them come from other PE shops, EOG, Exxon, or (usually cause they were laid off) SLB.
There’s no one innovative here. The biggest j--koffs are those AAET guys. Huge asshats. Not impressed with any of them. Egos as big as their inflated paycheck and burn rate!
Read other posts on this site and see which comments have the most Up votes. It’s a huge testament to how terrible this place is. Everyone knows this company is incompetent. The problem is no one wants to hire you after you work here and you start to lose your skill set so quickly that you can’t really leave. Avoid if you can!
If you want a career in oil and gas and are willing to work in Midland, then go for it! You’ll receive great training, industry leading benefits, and a big fat paycheck. Also, they don’t really expect much from you.
If you're a yes man who's okay with stagnating in his career and willing to drink a Big Gulp sized amount of corporate kool-aid, APC is the right spot for you.
APC is a sinking ship. Permian mgmt is underwhelming, complete waste of an asset
Pay is about 20% low in comparison to the rest of the industry. Culture is poor. Morale is low. Company continues to miss targets. I'd look elsewhere.
Steer clear. Pay isn't that great...APC keeps people roped in with the PTO and 401K match. Upward advancement is slow at best, unless of course you lack a gag reflex (then the sky is the limit).
I did, but looking back I would have only stayed for 3-5 years instead of 10. Their pay isn't as "competitive" as they think it is.
Oil is dead
