Sunday inventory count and Amazon Prime shopping

Amazon Prime shoppers had a terrible experience last night. 80+ orders in the queue. Teams counting inventory so nothing else can be stocked out. Offering replacements for almost half of every order, then having to chase down a team member to confirm every INF before moving on. Amazon is going to tick off a lot of customers.

@1gyw, to be fair, there are a handful of Prime shoppers I see on a regular basis and they’re good folks. Focused on getting their work done, really polite to TMs, only coming to us if they’re honestly having trouble finding something. One in particular is an absolute joy, and I wish all customers were as nice as her. It’s just insulting as a hardworking person to see people getting paid the same as my hardworking colleagues and literally doing nothing but playing on their phones.

@ 1mee...I totally agree. The Prime Now Shopper gig is perfect for lazy, bottom feeders. To start, it’s the ones sitting at home playing on their phones that get all the shifts. You have to log into the app and grab a shift before others can click on it. They are 4 hour shifts, and there are about 60 ppl on the roster. Of those 60, there are maybe 10 who somehow get 80% of the shifts. They get so angry when hours are maxed at 25, and I have to explain to them Amazon isn’t offering you benefits.

As for the downtime, I once again agree. I personally hate it. When I’m there and the orders are done, I’ll walk the store. Chances are a customer will ask where a product is or if I can help reach it. The others just put their earbuds in and talk on the phone all night.

I hate everything about this job, but I’m riding the $15 an hour wave while it’s available.

The inventory counts are embarrassing. Bringing people in to stay until 4 am counting tiny little cans of cat food on a shelf is a cruel joke. Meanwhile at Publix, they’re keeping a running inventory of every single item at the store. Nobody has to get on a radio and ask someone else if something’s in the back, they can scan the shelf tag and know right away. When presented with the choice of staying current on tech to be a more efficient and profitable company, or to stick with something as archaic and wasteful as paying a bunch of people to count things by hand into the wee hours of the morning when they can no longer think straight, WFM chooses the latter. And they wonder why they had to sell. WFM leadership can’t be replaced soon enough.

As for Prime Now shoppers, it’s been a mess in my store. It’s either a busy night full of orders but no shoppers scheduled, causing chaos and angry drivers/customers, or no orders at all and a bunch of shoppers getting paid $15/hr to play Candy Crush and loudly FaceTime their boyfriends, splayed out on our break room couch. Pretty sweet gig. Sure beats us losers getting paid the same to produce food, help customers, clean, do the work of three people because of labor cuts, keep up with endless mountains of clipboards and paperwork, and constantly scan shrink on the godforsaken IRMA guns.
