Like you, I still have a negative reaction to socialism. That being said, here are a few things.

  1. This is the best article I have read on PSR. It's not in the Wall Street Journal, it's not mainstream, but it is reality.

  2. Someday the PSR movement will grind UP and the rest of the railroads down. People will stop posting here, we'll "move on". Outside of the rosy exceptions of those who found a better job that pays "x" times more than UP, the majority, and I believe the vast majority, of laid off UP employees will never find a job that paid as much, with the stability that working for UP should have had.

They'll never find that RR pride again either.

  1. Mark my words, our existing system in the U.S. is destroying itself. They, the L.F.'s, Vena, and Harrison's of the world, along with their gambling hedge funds, want to turn all of us into warehouse level, non-unionized, interchangeable components. They don't give a sh about you, and frankly, don't give a sh about this country, no matter what they lie to themselves and others.

Unless our American business leaders buy into America and American workers, we will all fail.

This country's slide into ghetto-ization and third world status will accelerate. Just take a look at some of the rural towns UP goes through and think how they looked like in the 1920s...or take a look at some of the neighborhoods in Chicago or Houston we run through. Yes, some places have improved a lot, a minority has made a little more money in the 2019 economy...but most of this country is sliding in the opposite direction.

Again, thanks for the article!

While I don’t agree with socialism, the article is awesome - “It is a preposterous, proven lie. The concept of PSR is that railroads can do more with less—they can get rid of workers, reduce maintenance, close repair shops and sorting yards, cut train frequency, and supposedly provide better service while still making more money. Only the latter is true, and only for a short time—until the long-term consequences emerge.”

Reading the last paragraph of the article basically states what this socialist website is wanting-a super union of which all other unions are a part of. Yeah right, like that's going to help the economy. All it would be is another union tax on the working person and we get to listen to them whine about how capitalism is bad and and socialism (like the green new deal and obamacare) is going to save America. Just think, you'd pay into your union AND this socialist "super union". Gimme a freakin' break.
