Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Pathetic Board of Directors

How can they 'reward' TT to a new contract with how he crashed the value of the company? It used to be that when BOD had some guts - and a backbone - they would hold the executive leadership responsible for the direction of the company. Fast forward to today and they have watched TT basically flush the value of the company down the Little Rock toilet - where the stock price was in the $80 range when he was crowned, to where it is now - the laughingstock of telecom - at 30 CENTS!

These BOD should have been fired and flushed down the Little Rock toilet along with TT, instead they are continuing the brown nosing and keeping their lipstick well greased to fill their wallets with the money of the hard earning employees.

At least when WIN is finally acquired on the cheap once they come out of Chapter 11 will these BOD's slime get flushed down along with TT and his other Zombies.

Looking back at all the poor decisions that executive leadership had made over the past several years; this has been a planned bankruptcy. How else can anyone explain the things that have been done? No executive leaders can be this inept...or can they.

Financial engineer is spot on.

Take the labor associated with a capital project (say, installing new equipment in a central office). Now, amortize that labor cost over the life of the equipment. Yet another way the books are cooked and do not accurately reflect the financial health of the company.

When TT took over, the company was already very heavily in debt due to excessive borrowing and a paying too extravagant dividend to shareholders.

I know folks here hate TT, but to what extent was this all teed up for disaster by the previous CEO?

It's not clear to me that senior management has been staffed with telco people so much as financial engineers.
