Isn’t it dangerous to thin the workforce to the bone in the situation where the workers that got to stay have a large degree of stress and bitterness within themselves? What happens when atrition hits and the workforce is already at the bare minimum? Did they count on that and does the company have the ability to react to that scenario?

They can't even hire new people. Aside from news coverage and word of mouth, even the colleges have stopped students from going into internships knowing what's going on.
Lance said he made a cool 12 million last year and he’s debt and stress free. Don’t worry he’ll get out a new shiny yellow vest and stand beside an engine and make a new courage to care video and let you know how much everyone means to him. Then everyone will feel loved again.
They counted on a certain amount of attrition. But may get more than anticipated. I assume they figure they can always hire and for less money.
I don't think they anticipated the level of anger, bitterness and general toxicity that has developed. Loyalty and dedication have been replaced by apathy. Lance's lame attempts at encouragement only make it worse. Just hiring new people will not solve this problem.
