Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

That’s Not A Raise...

So, I got my “raise” this past week. A whole whopping 2.5%. Yup, thats what Lowe’s calls a “raise”. Of course it doesn’t keep up with the yearly change in the cost of living or the hike in my health insurance they give me yearly too, but I guess I’m supposed to shut up and be grateful right? Isn’t that what all the corporate Lowe’s id--ts on this site will say?

Well, I’m willing to put money on a bet that the people at the top of this company got much more than a measly 2.5% and they wouldn’t tolerate it if they did. And they wonder why no one has any loyalty to the company and turnover is so high. You get what you pay for guys and your not paying much.

Be glad you got 2.5%. We were told a percentage and then corporate reduced it. I personally have a strong work ethic but I need to scale it back. Why are we killing ourselves and tearing our bodies apart loading appliances and tractors by ourselves when we are not appreciated. I need to start working in the slow mode and I definitely need to start taking breaks plus roaming around. You get what you paid for, right?

Our Store Manager hasn't even mentioned the word RAISE to any of us....I mean hell, if we aren't getting one, have the balls to tell us!

2% raise is tolerable when you combine it with a go do less philosophy

the obvious action is to routinely exceed 40 hrs now so the OT makes up for the decrease rate of the raise

on the lowes employee facebook page alot of specialist say they saw a raise on friday and then when they logged in on saturday the raise was pulled back to what they were making. is it because marv and crew are trying to squeeze one more paycheck at the lower amount, or because they executed the timing poorly, or because of what you just said...marv and crew told them to lower it from 3% to 2%.....everyone who commented said they all got a 3% raise. really curious that so many said their hourly rate went up only to go right back down the next day.....

As a soon to be laid off Hrm, the raises this year changed. Historically they have been a flat rate of 3 percent, however I guess Marv and friends decided to set the rate at 2 percent. Store managers have the option to give more but we know how they can be. The raise is a slap in the face for all the hard work associates do. The economy is good. Start looking for other employment.

Took a pretty large pay cut going from LP to Supervisor. Even better, we arent eligible for a raise this year. Thanks Marvin. God Bless.

3% annually is considered a "good" raise so stfu please.

With so many other issues , complain about something viable.

Ok. Chill. This whole “maxed in position “ deal is based on one thing. What do competitors in the industry pay for the same work and experience level.

If you are a sales specialist who excels in the Lowes environment you have one choice to make more money. Move into a commissioned sales role somewhere else. Take whatever dollars in sales you made at Lowes and lop off 25%. Then interview around and ask what commission rate is where you will go.

Let’s say you made $35,000 at Lowes last year. New place offered $18,000 base and 4% rate. You sold $600,000 at Lowes. So $450,000 in sales at new place would pay $36,000.

Then ever year as your sales grew your pay will too.

Salespeople make on average twice the $36,000 in our industry related fields.

If not interested just stay at Lowes

( quietly).

And the sales floor managers are not workers like they are supposed to be. They are hiding out and working 20 or 30 hours overtime just because they want the money. They are always scheduled to work daytime hours in my store also. So how are they helping with the departments when the staff is short, etc. Why pay the workers pennies and let these people milk so much overtime just hanging out and taking or looking at their phones all day. Paying for health insurance takes half my check and it is not good health insurance.
