If they freeze the pension and mandatory buy out anyone under 50, every tenured employee under 50 WILL leave.

Eliminate the pension. No long termer is going to quit. They are floating around like the turd that won't flush waiting to collect their lifetime paycheck. Kill the pension. Mandatory buyout under 50.

I know. We could wait to see whether they actually schedule a town hall in May. Then, we could attend it and find out what is said.

The most marketable employees really don’t care about pension anyway. The raises or equity they can get by leaving makes it a net win for them.

I agree, I am 42 and left after 9 years , I left 2 years ago to go to another company, there is a lot of employees who left before they turned 50, who spent many years at the farm wanted to take their pension out or roll it over to an independent 401K. Personally I dont understand why State Farm won't buy people out of the pension plan and fully sever those employees. If State farm wants to be like GEICO and Progressive, go all in. Dont layoff thousands of people and then hold on to their pension. That is not a good way to do business. But what do I know. Tippy is a genius.

How does freezing the pension stop the auto and homeowners policy bleeding? Stupid decisions created that situation.Freeze the pension and the brain drain will be complete. We already have too many leaders in management who don't know what they are doing, too any prof/tech employees who are seeing opportunities outside the company. Talk about putting a spike through the heart of the last vestiges of the only thing that keeps many talented, experienced and knowledgeable employees even entertaining the sh-- show at State Farm.

Eliminate pension. Its a huge financial burden to manage for retirees. Mandatory lump sum payouts for those under 50. Over 50 can choose payout or frozen pension.
