Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I’m Essential

There is a full time position available at a Lowes near my home, I applied, interviewed, sand was offered the position. Now my current SM has decided that I am essential to his store and can’t make the move to full time.

Can he really block me from moving to another store?

I would start to document any information that you can. Once you've felt you gotten all tangible information look to pursue possible legal action. Do not get pulled into 'its a corporation they can do what they want'. These people may reside in different states or don't understand that the state can defend you and will do so with no fee charge to you to investigate. You want to move like the elite. Start learning and coordinating like the elite. Learn how to use connections and find presssure points. You'll find your harness more power than you think.

They don't care about the people and will just jerk you around however they want. It is wrong but they get away with it. Poor management mentality at Lowes. Marvin needs to be trying to correct the bad management from top down instead of punishing the workers. Lots of wasted money and incompetent management that let management go home early all the time and get paid unnecessary overtime. The workers deserve more and the management deserves less. Clean house from top down not bottom up Marvin.

Well if that is what's happening then you chose the right place to inquire. I am sure without a doubt anyone on this site can fix your problem.

but they "could" own you for a fee.....think of professional sports, they are owned and paid for it. you are not, you are employed in a job role.....document everything. if they call you in the office, bring a pad of paper and a pen....the pe--smightier than the sword.....and will also give you major support and credibility.

They want you to tell your manager before you apply. Is that what you did?

in a German accent You are essential to the war effort!

That is, until they shoot you for sport.

In my old store the HR manager blocked a transfer of our OSLG DM. Said the other store had to wait until after we got out if season. It was the start of the season.

Ironically, the store manager wasn't told about it until after the other store passed on the DM. He was furious.... because now he had to fire the DM instead of pawning him off on the other store.

Sure they can. At my store as part of the Stocking Crew we have all applied for other positions in the store, such as Internet, but in 4 years not one of us has gotten out. They use the same excuse. Is it right? No it’s not.

Dis modern day slavery. Those stores are designed to look like a modern day plantation. Don’t get me started on the outdoor garden center because they was designed to look like a cotton field.

The political correct answer is absolutely not! The truth: they can make it almost impossible for you to move to another store.

Before anyone says: "no way! Not possible!"

I have been in conversations where this was actually said.

That's awful. This is someone's life for God's sake. They don't own you.
