Idk if these people were let go, but a few managers in my office have been really quiet these past few days. Sign on for a couple hours and sign out...barely even in the office. Idk if theyre getting RIFd, if theyre just using personal time, ect but I def feel stress in the air...personally id rather find a new job before i get let go..but if I don't whatever. I got skills (totally unappreciated skills at AIG) that I can use elsewhere; definately more than most of these "managers" do

Since no one has actually commented on "which" department was riffed, I'm assuming it was just a few employees. Maybe higher paid, maybe a job that went overseas, maybe a department shift and offered another position but thought it was beneath them. Seems like AIG has shifted, no entire groups but a select few as not to be so apparent. Have they gotten rid of any HIGH salary managers, Directors, or best buddies? You know, the ones that don't do chit all day. THAT is were the costs need to be cut!!!

This place is a joke getting rid of good workers and keeping management that s---s and don't do their job.

True, some were impacted in KC. To get a severance we need to stick around to help train and check the outsourced work. It’s becoming the norm!

I truly despise this company - they failed and got bailed out with us dollars overpay executives, and then this. I'm so sorry - the action described in the OP is simply evil, but for some reason they get a pass - it's ugly.
