It is just like that line in the original Predator movie: We're all gonna die.

I think the COC will be different for each person based on time with the company and salary. I would be surprised if everyone got two years, etc. Anadarko should make sure they take care of the employees before the close. The executive team sure took care of themselves.
Barista LOL
People, are you really expecting a fat severance check? Think again. OXY needs cash, and right now! Paying a fat check to has-been employees is NOT on their radar. Expect a little retraining money - think Starbucks barrister.
What if oxy doesn’t like the current COC and ask for it to be rewritten to close? Let’s not count on anything until oxy signs on the bottom line.
I am little confused with the three years deal. In both CVX and OXY agreement there is explicit statement for 1 year but our COC mentions three years also.
I think the difference is during the 1 year period we can call quits for 'good reason" on our own.
During total of three years there is protection for employees.
I am not clear if that means that if after the first year you get shipped off to Midland or drop in income you are protected or what and why no mention on 3 years.
There s a reference that the COC applies but it's al implied statements without reference to thre three year protection for some reason.
Any thoughts?
I’m ready now. Where do I sign?
1cxp, some of you field guys really know how to craft annoying posts. Office personnel are the same as you are, dude; we have families we need to feed and we are just trying to get by. It's not unreasonable to want to work at a computer all day in the air conditioning. And guess what, were it not for office staffers telling you where to place a well, which zone to recomplete, how much to adjust the choke, or how deep to drill, you wouldn't have a gig either. You can deny it all you want but we need each other to function.
Should have learned a job that requires a hard hat and steel toed boots instead of dockers and penny loafers.
The closer to the wellhead and more knowledgeable of the field you are, the more job security you'll have.
Key words, "without cause". They can simply say that your position or job has been eliminated within the company. I've seen it before. It's defendable and supposedly nonpersonal or political.
Read the change of control document. APC employees are covered for 3 years under the COC. If you are offered a job and are 'let go' without cause, you still get the COC. If you are offered a job more than 25 miles from your current job location, you can decline the job and take COC.
Speaking of “fat” severance. What if OXY closes this deal without laying anyone off. Then three months later they decide “trim” the ranks. Do they still have to pay us our “fat” severance according to the change of control document? Or can they just shove us out the door with 12 weeks pay?
Yep, I’m with the first guy. By Thanksgiving, most of us will be thrown out of here. It’s all to do with sarcasm and double entendres. It will be in late November, but really nothing to do with Thanksgiving.
Never was a bidding war
Agreed. If things stay on track and close quickly otherwise it will be a bit longer. They won't do the layoffs until they first close and then give us the standard speech on we are deciding how best to combine our strengths of people and then lay most of us off.
Prob around Thanksgiving time is my guess.
