Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

MARKET DIRECTORS ARE LOST

Isn't it funny watching these market directors that have no idea what they are doing flood stores with tasking when they should be driving sales.

Md to Dm. What next?

Just a guess here: realign districts to have about 16 stores each where possible and eliminate about 1/3 of Dm positions.

Then have “travel manager” positions where one manager manages 2 stores in more developed areas. That should eliminate about 1/4 of the managers.

That way they save wasted payroll since at least one third of the DMs and one quarter of the store managers s--- anyway.

Its simple. The company has no clear cut structure for tasks. Tasks have to be done, you can't sell from an empty shelf, but it requires investing in pay roll. Payroll is bad for the stock holders though. Its mire cost effective in the short term to cut payroll, reduce the range of items, buy inventory in bulk at reduced rates, and even if sales fall flat to last year the company makes more with zero investment.

Lowes isnt looking to be a better retailer. They are looking to increase the stock price. That is just what happens with publically owned companies. I work for a privately owned retailer and it is waaayyy better.

Our market director or whatever they are called this week had us organize top stock in paint. We organized the quarts by item number and removed all of the paint supplies from top stock setting them up in displays all around the store.

We don’t have enough staff to do what needs to be done let alone all the extra tasking being asked of us to do.

I thought they got changed back to District Managers when the SSM's became Department Supervisors. My DS gave their 2 weeks last Saturday, going to a stable, well managed local company.
