Since it is a Monday it was time for the inanely stupid manager meeting. Following the terrible Lowedown where Joe and Bill literally say bringing in "money money money!!!" we got to talking about the pressing issues for the week and the notes from the store manager conference call from the DM. Several comments about how "If I see that when I come in to your store it won't be pretty" my favorite it a response that apparently the DM gave for many statistics and issues that we need to improve on is "You don't wanna know what is going to happen if you don't" Now I know that bullying, threatening, demeaning, insulting, degrading and humiliating our ASMs and Supervisors and regular associates is how we do business but I want to ask finally to him and put him on the spot regarding that. So if we don't improve we will most likely get fired right? most of us hate our jobs anyway it might be a blessing, but the way it keeps being said to me I think I am beginning to feel threatened. I don't feel safe and I worry for my well being as well as the well being of my fellow associates and their families. So maybe I should ask him, will I be harmed if I don't meet this sales goal? Am I putting myself in jeopardy of life and limb? will I find my tires slashed? Will me or my property be damaged? maybe I should call the police? This culture of fear is getting way way way to out of hand. the horrible and downright immoral way these DMs which follows to SMs are treating their ASMs down to CSAs is unconscionable! This is a hardware store for crying out loud!! I'm at the end of my rope with how this place is operating well I guess according to my DM I will be swinging from a rope if I don't get my extended warranty numbers up by next week.

Orange crush orange crush orange crush.....LOLOLOL
I was driving down a major street about 1 mile from a Lowe’s. There were unused aisle marker signs all down the road. Either someone forgot them in their car/ truck or on its roof.
Waste money! Just look at fiasco with the "new" signs. Heard yesterday they were sc-aping the big ones for outside and only using inside store. Merchandising district manager had no idea! Running in circles. Chasing the orange monster by putting their colors all over the store. The new "ours and theirs". Showed a whopping .40 difference! .40 losing the battle definently!
The best part about them complaining about expenses about the balloons is all the money we waste on labels. Need one bin label? Waste 31 others to make 1. This company truly saves pennies to lose dollars.
“Soft and weak people” guy, who the f--- do you think you’re talking to. You little b--ch a-- m------f----
If Marvin comes to my store, Ill threaten him. Maybe even choke the life out of him. That goes for the VP, my DM, SM, and every brainless minion, empty suit, threatening manager in existence. What small-dorked, whimpy, little, sniveling cowards, They hide behind the blanket of security at the work place with their threats,.
IM THE BOSS OUT OF WORK, and Ill prove to it all of em. Then we'll see how they like it when I push their face in dogchit.
send letters to your state labor board, that is what I am going to do...12 years Lowes who is also a veteran...this is b---s---
“Like somehow if we rake in all this cash we will see it. We won’t and nobody cares. It is very similar to the contest they ran for the NCAA tournament where the winning district manager got to go to the championship game. My district manager and my store manager are probably two of the most unethical and elitist people I have ever met,”
One of the most accurate posts I’ve ever read about Lowe’s. There is no reason to work extra hard and break down your body, so a district manager that makes 10X more than you already can get a free trip. It’s like when my manager gave me my first bonus talking about how big it was. $300 after tax Yippee. Of course I almost had to leave in a body bag for it. Instead the District Managers get to wear out employees to get a much bigger incentive. Resigning was the best thing that I ever did. If your able bodied and need money look into your local unions, electrical, plumbing, sheet metal, painting... hours are better, company truck, over 4 times what I made as a department manager. You need to work hard and be accurate, but isn’t that what Lowe’s is demanding now. Might as well get a pension, better insurance, and some respect.
U all are such soft and weak people. It’s amazing the whining on this board. Probably from some life long employees that are Envious of others success. Sad
I agree with the previous post, yesterday’s lowedown was the most condescending 30 minutes I have ever seen. All that stupid c-ap about the Purdy roller covers and the stupid line about the expenses! “The air in your lungs is just as good as the expensive helium in the tank” um actually no it’s not helium is lighter than air that’s why balloons stay in the air! They keep commenting on the money money money!!! Like somehow if we rake in all this cash we will see it. We won’t and nobody cares. It is very similar to the contest they ran for the NCAA tournament where the winning district manager got to go to the championship game. My district manager and my store manager are probably two of the most unethical and elitist people I have ever met, they think they are so far above us that they are on a different planet. Why would I want to work my rear end off to make obscene amounts of money so they could go to the game and sit in a luxury box with Marvin most likely (full disclosure my district did not win). But its just another reminder to the managers and associates that corporate does not care about us at all, they think that they are so cool and Marvin is such a genius that all 200 of my store’s employees as well as the other employees in the other stores around the district are going to work day and night through blood, sweat, and tears so that our district manager can go and hang out with the big cheese, the same person that comes into our store once a month and tells us how stupid we all are and how he cannot wait to fire us and how we will never amount to anything. What a colossal joke this company has become.
I was simply astounded that during the lowedown they mentioned gorilla tape and baking soda over and over. Obviously an inside joke poking fun at some store somewhere in the company who actually had those products in a "Pro-Centric" area. They did the same about the PRO doors being open and made light of the fact that a store asked a legitimate question about weather events and if they should keep them open. Just answer the question in a meaningful way and keep the zingers in house. It makes them look like bully's and unprofessional in many levels.
They always have some kind of poke or prod at their employee base. It's old and comes off as arrogant Home Depot disciples. For guys who want to beat HD so bad they sure go about making their new team feel real special.
It's truly sad to be quite fair.
maybe another class action needs to be in the works for mental health....lowes creating such a toxic workplace that their entire workforce has severely suffered in terms of physical and mental health.
if a lady can win a lawsuit for hot coffee...why cant a few hundred thousand lowes workers sue these id--ts for the verbal abuse, job threats, and constant fears of restructure and layoff
I'm glad I've cultivated a skill of avoiding management as much as possible.
hostile workplace. like you said verbal threats can be taken as physical threats.....best to have a judge file a retraining order against these wack job corportate mo--ns. . only a matter of time before some slightly unstable workers actually just look up these district managers and meet threat for threat. sure they hold your job in the palm of their hands...but they arent invincible and they might just push someone too far.
