Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Xerox Europe

I'm hearing so much about Cores, GIS, Sales, etc... Does anyone have an idea of what is happening on the other side of the pond? Are they immune to layoffs because of stricter labor laws?

From what I have read - we are now down to 30,000 +/- employees worldwide. It has been nothing but "chop-chop-chop" in the US.

Lots of bloated staff organizations still within EMEA. Still lots that can be cut since much of it is just duplication and redundancy of Webster functions. Will Herve cut it? Only he and John know that.

The point was clear but irrelevant. Conversation is about org structure and layoffs and not systems.

I always thought EMEA meant Emerging Markets East of America

I did not make my point clear enough regarding systems and XE. You can change the names but the underlying systems reporting/data collection is still in the old structure due to no funding for changes.

It’s not been called that for 18 months, how long do you need?

To the person who chastised other posters about "XE", please remember that just because reporting structures changed doesn't mean the way the business operates changes equally fast. Systems take time and investment to modify and there is no commitment to spend the money by the new senior management.

It is EMEA which is Europe, Middle East and Asia. They merged Developing Markets Operations into it late last year.

The term XE is not used. Xerox Europe, in its original form, does not equal Europe as part of EMEA.

However there are always things going on.

See if you can find someone who will inform on what happened in Xerox Portugal recently...

No such thing as “the XE”, another Xeriod who doesn’t even know how the company is now structured!

I have heard thru reliable sources that the XE may be subjected to reductions in the next couple of months

And it also much cheaper to reduce headcount in the US. Employee protection laws in Europe makes it so expensive to carry out large scale changes so it is no surprise we’re getting hammered here...

Plenty of heads have gone in Europe last year and also this year too, some have gone to HCL as well as part of this round of outsourcing. What you have to also understand is that Xerox outside of the US is a much leaner organisation in regards to headcount, so there is less to cut in the first place . This is regardless of any country labor laws.
