After retiring from State Farm with over 30 plus years, I feel obligated to put my two cents in this. If you are still at State Farm, please be forewarned: Trust absolutely no one at all levels. During my career, I always thought VPA's, VPO's, Claim Managers, consultant, analysts etc. were to be respected and trusted. Be assured, I can honestly say that is not the truth. I had the opportunity to know these folks both on and off the playing field. Key words/phrases re: fit in and he/she is a player are words for their culture. Do not think they are people who do not have histories of shady activity. They do! Do not fall for their "game" thinking they are so kind. The first chance they get to emotionally and financially ruin a person, they will. Trust none of them. They preach inclusiveness and believe me, they are as far from it as a dictatorship.

I would never recommend anyone to ever work for State Farm. I left after 25 years due to the new model and BS. I left just before the new model started in my region. Best thing I could do. I feel for the claim employees who are stuck. I can only recommend to look for another job even if less money as your health is worth more than staying at the Farm. God Bless to all.
Snake Farm is perfect! That is 100% what I experienced.
After hearing my stories of work, my relatives all refer to it as Slave Farm. Like a Bad Neighbor Slave Farm Does Not Care!
We’re way beyond trust.someone better get a handle on the current state of the Farm. It’s crumbling all over. Our underwriting model, claims, financial services. I’m not sure what area is working. It’s crunch time, it’s time for some people to held accountable.
To ujo, we’ll spoken. I was hired in 1990 and was fortunate enough to be able to stay in my proximity office until 1999. Promotions happened and 20 years after that, I had been in the hell of corporate life for too long. I was very fortunate to be able to take severance and retire immediately, albeit early, and moved to a nicer place, The way things were in Corporate were insane and it becomes more apparent every day!
To OP.. I completely understand what your saying and can relate. The new culture is toxic.... making you on edge and feeling paranoid....
Not a troll, and I ask that you read the entire post before hating on me. To anyone who is frustrated with management, metrics, impossible work loads and expectations...Get over it!
I had 25+ year as a field Proximity claim rep and for a considerable amount of time I bled red and white hit me stickers. I loved the Farm until I didn't & after a time I walked away. Best damn decision I ever made. There is a line from Shawshank Redemption which pretty much sums it up "Get busy living, or get busy dying." We all know that the Farm has been in a decline since the mid 90's when they set up the first claim centrals and it has gotten steadily worse ever since. Yet, we continued to stay and complained about how bad it was.
I had nothing to go to and still left. I had no idea what my options were but knew that anything was better than what I was doing at the Farm. I live in a very rural area and thought that I may have to move, but I quickly found work with an independent company and am making more than I ever made at the company. The money is nice, but the best part is how I am treated. I have been treated professionally, with common curtesy including being thanked for the work that I do. There is no stress and I am enjoying the work.
Think about that. Enjoying your work, being treated nicely and having no stress. If you are still at the Farm, look around you. Can you honestly say any of that? That is why I said to get over it. Take matters into your own hands and find your own happiness. It certainly won't be at State Farm.
Worst place in the world to work.
Slave farm... chained to your desk, call center hell. Ask a manager what’s going on.... they answer “We don’t know.”
Don’t trust anyone, don’t admit to anything if they ever accuse you of anything.
It gets called "Snake Farm" for a reason!
This OP doesn’t have the guts to tell the real reason for retirement. It wasn’t voluntary
Sad when a company cannot be trusted when they preach trust.
Like everyone doesn't already know this? This is not breaking news. Anyone with more than a year in already knows.
