Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Watching outsourcing take hold - and fail.

Since they've started outsourcing IT functions, it's been like watching a dumpster fire every time there's been an issue involving one or more of the contracting companies. Now that they've accelerated the process it's like watching a demolition derby involving flaming garbage trucks in slow motion. They all just sit there and point the finger at each other and quote "scope" rules. All this while they report how wonderful their fake stats are to the braindead fools who bought the sales pitch. There's no better teacher than experience, and Pepsi is in for one hell of a lesson. I'm so glad I'm leaving now.

I knew it was going to be bad when they decided to outsource the network to BT. TCS, omg, that's another story-nightmare story. Not meant as 'disparaging' to the company, but a very poor decision to let us go. I loved working for PepsiCo and helping people and resolving issues. When I had to train TCS to do my job it was more an experience of cultures and work ethics. Nothing to do with race. I feel for those still working and hope they are doing well. TCS wont ever match the work we were able to perform. Yes I would come back if asked. How's printing these days?

I find it hard to understand that corps don't understand that IT drives, supports and generates business. Well of course they do but they are motivated and owned by the dollar. Like today's society they are very short sighted throwing longevity to the wind. With weak poor IT services infrastructure comes sales mirroring IT. Short lived spikes in the markets not even lasting the length of the outsourcing contract.

The calls they are having for these issues have some many B2’s that know nothing trying to show as if they have everything under control. Back in the PBG days this kind of issue would have been solved in hours with smart and competent FTE’s that knew the systems and were motivated to work by leadership (CIO level) that cared of them and actually knew them on first name basis.

When the remaining FTEs keep busting our a$$es to bail them out, it makes it appear that managed services is performing great. What most don't know is that managed services is quick to pass the buck to a remaining FTE to solve their issues. I currently have a simple request to managed services that has not been addressed for over two days and counting. In the past, this same issue was resolved within hours when we had people who knew what they were doing.

I've been on calls 24/7 for the past 3 days supporting this outage, and I'm not even ops. Love being punished for the decisions my company makes--decisions which claim people like me who actually know the systems are no longer needed. I bet TCS is laughing all the way to the bank. What a f---ing joke
