I am a CSA of 8 years a former department manager that took a lower position. I have seen a lot of changes in my store and in this company over the years but nothing like I see now. Firstly I truly think that by the end of next year Lowe’s will no longer exist as a single corporation, we will merge or be bought out by someone like amazon or take over parts of depot or something like that. The signs all lead to it at least from my view point. Since Marvin took the helm he has slashed employment levels dumped old inventory, closed and shut down or sold off underperforming assets. He mainly takes his pay in stock. DE Shaw and Bill Ackman who brought Marvin in own large chunks of stock as well as Marvin himself, We are now seeing employees being prohibited from owning certain amount of Lowe’s stock in their 401(k). Lowes is using its profits to stage massive stock buybacks increasing the value of the shares that are already on the market. If we do get sold it to someone like Amazon or merge with another company the fewer shares there are the more valuable they will be these guys will make a massive payday but gutting this clunker of a company polishing the turd and selling it off. Who knows maybe they’ll still run it I’m sure Marvin would love to have his office down the hall from Jeff Bezos of Amazon the richest man in the world. Which leads me to my next point how do I increase the profitability? Well it’s very simple we’ve incentivize the store managers by increasing their bonuses And we removed HR from the store as well as LP in most cases. Our store is so packed with stuff we are actually intentionally violating safety codes in order to store it all in our manager who is a pretty strict guy to begin with pretty much now does what he wants to employees, short of physically hitting them he does everything else. Since this change I have never seen human beings treat other human beings With such discussed and distain and lack of empathy and emotion. I have seen this store manager as well as a few of his underlings scream at employees in the face to the point where spit was getting on them I have seen a manager put his hand in employees fa with such discussed and distain and lack of empathy and emotion. I watched him belittle and berate people to the point where they are in tears. I have also been called into HR in the past and questioned as well as having to write statements not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 times due to female employees in my area of the store accusing him of s-xual harassment. But of course nothing gets done I don’t know if it’s the fact that the regional HR is his next-door neighbor and they go golfing every Saturday. But now with this new model that Marvin is going he is gone after people with gusto he is committed to sales at any cost if that means people get injured and that means people are at the point where they are having panic and anxiety attacks so be it his money is on the line. And that’s exactly what Marvin wants he wants the store managers to beat the money out of the employees he wants them to use every means necessary by simply increasing their bonuses and removing any sort of ramifications they may face because if each store achieves the growth that he wants his stock will go even higher. It’s coincidental that all of our hires are now seasonal or part time they’re not gonna file a complaint with HR with the hotline or ethics point they’re just going to stop showing up for work and that’s fine will just hire another one if there’s one thing that Lowes has definitely push the last few months it’s that people are expendable like a soiled diaper. I will be leaving LOwes soon, I wish I could do something to change the course because there are a lot of good employees in this company over 300,000 employees a lot of them being affected in ways that I can imagine. But unfortunately I just don’t think anything will change. I’ve left a review on Glassdoor.com but you can see the company still has a pretty high score and Marvin does as well compared to other corporations. Barring some massive scandal or something that really makes the news to jar people to the effects of what goes on in the store I really don’t think that anything will change and these executives will get their paydays the store managers will get their big bonuses and the rest of the employees will be left to right. It is such a sad state of affairs.

you want something to make the news? you said you plan on leaving lowes......film this SM at his very worst and then quit. post the video all over the place. verbal complaints, making statements to HR will get no where....but video proof is hard to get past. submit it to your local news agency and offer to give a statement on the culture that created this SM.
This is so close to what I was experiencing with Lowe’s before I quit, I’d almost think I wrote it. Sounds like more Lowe’s managing by a script. I didn’t have a manager that had a saliva problem though. I think I would have filmed that and quit on the spot. That type of behavior needs to stop. Perhaps posting it on YouTube next time.
Interesting point of view. Can you tell me if this decline has been partially contributed to the store HR managers no longer being there?
