Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

USA rebadged folks who got Addendum Letter

Still sinking in about that addendum letter many of us rebadged folks got this week. I'm looking for a job, but wondering what happens if i don't get out of here soon. HCL is committed to 6 months in my ltr. It states 60 days notice will be given if your job is going away.

Can anyone confirm--- I believe w/ this much notice, there isn't any severance pay obligation when a group if laid off? I read somewhere that it's typically either 60 days notice OR up to 60 days of severance. Recent layoffs for folks here in US have rec'd severance, but that was w/o the 60 days notice.

If HCL is reading this board I have a message for them:

You may think you got this great deal with Xerox but in the end they will screw you over just like us, you will invest so much time and money into this project and boom they will sell and your 7 year billion plus dollar deal will go up in smoke

You ever hear the saying "some things are just better off left alone"

Well GIS is one of them!!!!!

Look I’m telling you it was always part of the strategy.

HCL had to come up with their own lists as well as Xerox in order to marry this up. Hence the delay. Same process is imminent for rest of world - just watch...

And I promise you that this board is viewed daily by people on the project.

Here's my 'opinion'

The person who posted this is ridiculous (that's polite for full of s**t)

"to be clear this retention process was ALWAYS a part of the strategy. I say this as someone who is close to the project itself.

Unless you are HCL India or Xerox direct leadership WAY UP on the chain of command, you have the same info and opinions as the rest of us...and I doubt someone at that level gives 2 p--ps about this 'layoff board'

Yeah... perfect world all Xerox and GISX employees are retained by HCL after the CONFIRMED 4 waves of 'badging over' 90-95% of all employees

But really I can see a scenario of 95% Xerox and GISX employed by HCL and then a HIGH percentage of those HCL jobs outsourced. Anything/everything admin could be outsourced. Only Sales and Service need a physical body and even those can be HCL employees

Television and phone companies use contracted help and it works for them so Xerox could do the same. The Dish TV guy I hired doesn't work for DISH and the cable guy I got my internet installed with worked for a sub-contractor etc...etc...etc...

The jobs with HCL eventually have to outsource to other countries or the HCL/Xerox deal wouldn't be profitable for either of them

So a few HCL jobs in the US could stay with US but most will find cheaper labor

It's interesting that regardless the scenario we all post on this board, the bottom line or final statement always end with

"For long-term job and retirement security, KEEP LOOKING FOR EMPLOYMENT ELSEWHERE"

if the retention was always part of the process then why was everything done so sneaky? we were blindsided by the town meeting, fed a bunch of bs and

lied to as to why we were badged, given literally 3 days to decide, we've gone through hell and back the past month, if Xerox had been honest up front they would have probably had less people jump ship right away, way less angry and p-ss-d of employees. Listen, we all know how the corporate world works, the town meeting should have said " we are streamlining jobs, we are sorry thst people are going to lose their jobs, we will give you a bonus to stay and help get this done, we we will then give you severence and the right to collect unemployment, we will help get your resumes done but did they? NO they didn't, we thankfully saw the 53 page doc sealing our fate and the truth came out! Now they realize they are desperate and that is why the bonus is being offered!

They had to come up with a fast stragedy before a whole department walk out like it already happened. I believe we will get our 60 days notice in October. HCL is not to blame for all this that is going on. They are just doing their jobs. Xerox was the one that rebadged us picked by our CEO, Managers etc.

They will probably be dumb enough to put their plan in a revised PowerPoint presentation and errantly send it out to everyone. They make even the dimmest of people look smart sometimes

Their hand was forced with the issuance of these retention bonuses as everyone was leaving, so now they had to dump a bunch of cash that they didn't expect.

They will make this up elsewhere by moving up the timelines for outsourcing our jobs to India and Guatemala, or by finding other ways to hose us over.

I don't trust these people whatsoever. They can take their bonus offer and shove it.

Offer paperwork we all signed stated we would get a severence, max is 8 weeks as there is a chart that shows this, I think minimum is 2 weeks.

60 day notice is a requirement typically when more than 50 people are involved

6 month commitment takes us to October 1st, but that could mean notice could come August 1st and on

Who knows, I think how involved and difficult your job is will dictate how long they need you
