I’m a long time employee that would like to leave. Of course, getting severance is something i wouldn’t want to avoid. So if I run this by my manager, do you think they will grant my wish,or would that be interpreted me quitting?

You will get laughed at and targeted. “Running it by” your manager would be like running a pet deer in front of a hungry hunter.
Go ahead and bring it to your manager. They will give you a brush and a can of bright red paint so you can paint a giant target on your back.
Lowe's is an At Will employer. They really don't need a reason to terminate you, nor do you need a reason to quit.
As A Nonius Mus writes, no severance unless it is a company wide elimination of a position.
Only time I've ever heard of an individual severance is the Gold Parachutes Corporate Executives get, and very occasionally a long time member of Regional, District or Store Management they as essentially buying out to get rid of them.
lol.....they wont give you a severance unless youre part of a position wide layoff. if you run this by your manager theyll most likely tell you theres the door...nothing is preventing you from leaving. depending on how nasty they are they may just start actively looking for ways to fire you.
