I have been with Walmart for over 20 years. Just found out my wife has cancer 2 weeks ago. I got laid off today. And by the way I was Logistics HR Manager. There was no HR representative present when they let me go. Walmart is not the company it used to be. No family values and they dont care. Everyone is scared for their jobs.

Our store manger of 17 1/2 years just at this store and turning 65 this coming year was termed recently. Nothing related to dishonesty or compliance issues. Performance (sales/profit) was solid and inventories were very good, except for two years. Simply being targeted by MM and regional.

This is so sad. There is a serious bias against hiring older managers now so it's hard to find a new job at the same level. I'm doing everything I can before I hit 55 to make sure I'm financially ready to be "outmoded" into an early retirement by a greedy corporation. There's no loyalty anymore, you give 30, 40 years of service and they force you out at the most difficult age to be looking for a new job.
When I was hired by walmart over 20 years ago it was a blessing. I have since understood I as a Christian have brought my blessings to Walmart. When I go I take my blessings with me. Walmart can't undo things fast enough now. We may go so as not go down with it. Maybe sell our stock because it high. Maybe to work at another business. I any case we will endure.
file an eeoc complaint with the state of arkansas - this looks like age and race discrimination. walmart is deathly afraid of bad publicity.
Workday is a third party company (outsourced) we will use as we transition to paperless in HR. Smart system is going away. The associate will change their own address and other things through Workday. We will partner with them on all things HR. Sedgwick will activate and deactivate associates using LOA. Sam's ended the PTC position and management/ team leads will perform HR duties. Now Logistics has ended/reduce HR. Walmart has too many associates in most stores. Walmart is ending the PC and TC positions in all stores. Walmart will open a new position called People Lead in most stores. So most stores will have one. However, some smaller stores may "share" a PL. Neighborhood Markets will likely share the PL.
