Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Not a career!

State Farm is no longer a class act nor a first class respectable career. It has created a fast food environment while trying to sell elegant dining. They have forgotten about their internal customer and have developed an "all about me" environment which leads to chaos. These corporate values will lead to its demise.

I’ve been at SF for 12 years and have had a very good experience. 5 weeks PTO that I can use when I want, work from home flexibility and I have a good boss who gives me freedom to make a difference. Pretty much everyone in my area feels the same way. I guess it just depends on the area you are in.

If you haven’t noticed, it is quite clear that anyone with 20 years plus is expendable. With processes and systems not dependent on experience, those with higher salaries are on the way out. Go for plan B before the recession hits. Don’t wait for a life preserver.. they’re gonna be few and far between a little later on.

I know if I don’t get out soon it’s going to k--l me. I am going to lose a lot being a 30 year employee not old enough to get out but I just can’t take this job anymore. I gave them the best years of my life but the last 5 have been pure hell.

You are correct. While it isn’t ideal for anyone to get laid off, the people I feel the worst for are all the poor souls that will still be working there (for whatever their reason).

It would be so cool to see all the demand pools come together and somehow take a stand. It will never happen, but it’s a neat idea to think about. That company needs to wake up, but there isn’t really a way to make them realize it. This message board is really nothing more than a way to vent with other people about the misery that company causes in the lives of so many. At some point, everyone must ask themselves why they choose to voluntarily remain in an abusive relationship...because that’s exactly what is!

There is far more to life than the tenured salary dollars. What value do place place on your health and mental well being? Take a hint from the high attrition rates of new-hires that don’t have the tenured salary to factor into their choices. Make life adjustments, and then leave that prison to find your happiness. Choose your priorities wisely, because you only live once.
