Thread regarding Big Lots Inc. layoffs

Bruce Thorn single handily destroyed Big Lots with poor decision making. Bruce could not evolve the company coming out of a booming sales record from the pandemic. Bruce Decided clogging stores up with cheap clothing, over inventory of poor merchandise that led to markdown galore. Bruce took away cheap pricing as he turned Big Lots into a non competitive little Walmart. Bruce will receive his $3.15 million retention bonus so he may finish off Big Lots as a company. Questions to be asked, why did the shareholders allow this?

And fast forward to 2024 same cr-ppy leadership but with a guaranteed 3.5 million dollar retention bonus to see the company through its bankruptcy and store closings and layoffs

They just did another 500 person job elimination and demoted everyone if they stayed and cut pay.
They Absolutely do not care about anyone or how hard folks work for them.
They are still in huge financial trouble and wonder how much longer they’ll be around.
You’re an employee number to them… not a real person

I was an associate at big lots they treat the good workers like sh-t from management to corporate people treat associates like sh-t so all I have to say is fu-k you big lots.

I heard there were cups that were gonna happen right after Christmas. Did any of that happen?

I'm glad I found this thread. I work at Big Lots as a sales associate for my "fun money" after retiring from teaching. I was working the day these calls came in and could tell from the mood of the store managers that something bad had happened. No one will talk about anything, but everyone is on edge and the schedule has been changed drastically. No back-up cashier, no one on recovery for hours on end, weird shifts, etc. The customer service, which we pride ourselves in, has really taken a hit. Constant pressure to sign-up customers for rewards cards and 29.99% interest credit cards. I feel bad for the full-time employees that work really hard for this company and have lost or might lose their jobs. I have already found something better to do with my time and have asked to be scheduled only a few days a week, just to keep my discount. Sad that an incompetent CEO can ruin a company so quickly. I wish the managers would band together and stand up to the DM and other higher-ups but they won't. We need a Union mentality!!

Yesterday Big Lots let go of many long term store team leaders and assistant leaders in the mid west.
David Campisi made the company a great place to work. Bruce Thorn has cut so much from the staffing at store level, that the customers will be the ones to suffer. The stores were already short staffed to begin with.

It’s true, due to a restructuring, many were let go again today, I being one of them. New CEO’s want to be there hero but with the money they make they forget how we hard worker bees fight for a living. Lesson learned.... dedication does not win in the end.... it’s just a job and something else will come along.

I got laid off from Biglots, they are in financial trouble.

I thought it was a great company at first but now that I’ve been with Biglots for awhile that’s not the case. Biglots puts a lot of pressure on us especially on management, why do you think Biglots has a very high turnover ???? It’s because they don’t care if you leave or stay , Biglots has lost very good managers to Dollar Tree, 99 and other chains. If you don’t believe me do the research please and find out for your self.
