Thread regarding State Farm Insurance layoffs

Are layoffs happening under the radar?

Have no info. I’m just surprised that some time has gone by and I haven’t witnessed any layoffs at my location and haven’t heard of any. This board seems to be lacking information on actual layoffs occurring recently. Is it possible that the time of layoffs is behind us and that we can feel a little safer, or are they happening under the radar?

With the newer hires, the smart ones quickly realize that the Farm is not the place to hang around very long and they quickly move on. ...can't say I blame them at all. The micro-managing, the point system, the metrics, if you don't stay in the green, WATCH OUT, they are coming for you, the a-- backward way they require you to do things, the whole atmosphere that surrounds you when you work for State Farm, it's toxic.

The lack of training that persists throughout claims, the frustrations you experience on a daily basis because of all the c-ap you have to deal with, having to apologize to people on just about every phone call because the claim is so messed up, is soul s---ing and frankly they do not pay enough to have to deal with all the bull p--p you have to deal with on a daily basis, so yes the smart ones leave so fast.

The cultural at SF is just plain odd, it's like you always have to watch your back because there is always someone behind you with a knife ready to stick you in the back.

Managers that will pick and pick at people for the stupidest things until they get them to quit, seen it with my own eyes as well as being a victim of it. So those would be unofficial layoffs.

Going every day to work with your stress level so high you are ready to crack, praying you can make it through the day, getting through the day in small increments...nope that is not a job I would not stay at very long either..and I won't be for very much longer...YEA

And State Farm cannot figure out why they can't keep people, obviously they don't read this site..LOL

Guys, it is a Mutual Company. The CEO reports to the Board and the CEO is also Chairman of the Board. And if not enough the CEO recruits the Board members!

I honestly feel like Fatsord is going to be fired really soon. A lot of his initiatives have been failing and I don't see corporate tolerating declining production YOY much longer.

At the current rate of attrition there is no real need to lay-off anyone. The exception is that there still seems to be an effort to run off older, more tenured employee's.

With the newer hires, the smart ones quickly realize that the Farm is not the place to hang around very long and they quickly move on. I am sure some leave within weeks or days of their hire dates and never look back. The new hires that do stay, know little about customer service and proper claim practices and/or could care less about it.

I find it interesting that the current way of looking at the business is quite the opposite of the way the founder looked at it. If I remember correctly, GJ started the company by directly competing against the existing insurers in more populated, 'urban' areas. More rural areas, less chance of accidents, leading to lower rates, etc. And now, it seems as though the Farm is one of those 'established' insurers that GJ intentionally went after. Hmmmhhhh......

Layoffs are still happening, but they are letting the last announcement run it’s course before moving to the next phase. Several offices are closing at the end of August. Once all those employees are gone and processed, they will begin the next phase of announcements sometime afterward. The timeline is unknown, but they still have a long way to go in order to reach occupancy goals in the hub locations. They can’t rock the entire boat all at once, so they do it in phases.

Most of the layoffs were hand in hand with facility closures. Those have pretty well run their course, so the downsizing of people likely has as well.

Yes, the Business Lines just had 32 field folks impacted and one TM. They had to put their preference down. If they did not get either the consultant or specialists position they were offered an auto underwriting position in the HUB. Not surprising most are leaving the company because they were not offered the new lateral position but only the auto underwriting position which is a big demotion. Slimy Farm strikes again by getting rid of older employees. Since they could not get rid of them for any type of performance issues management “found” away to get rid of them with some statistical junk science.

Not sure. There is attrition, that much I know but I am curious to know if there are “unofficial” layoffs happening
